Made it to Burbage car park yesterday but nothing is gritted on the Derbyshire side of the hill.  Don't be fooled by how clear Ringinglow Road is!

Boulders were dry but it was about -10 with wind chill and far too cold for the sprog so we headed straight back.

There appears to be less wind today so might be a bit warmer.

Ringinlow easily drivable, going past burbage bridge is interesting but ok. Only went as far as apparent north parking, only cars coming up from pop end were 4x4's. Apparent north climbing is realtively snow free and sheltered, twas hot almost. In shade and on top diff story, baltic! -5 on car when we left

nothing is gritted on the Derbyshire side of the hill.

Pretty sure the gritters turn around in the layby beside the cattle grid. After that you're on you own! I don't think Derbyshire have put up the "Road Ahead Closed" sign yet.

Roaches was in great nick today.

I didn't have any problem getting to the plantation yesterday (in a normal car via the ringinglow), but its not the first time I've driven in snow. In the dark I didn't take any chances going back and went round via high neb and hathersage. That road is fairly flat and not too bad.

Snowing in Sheff now. Still coming from the north-east so may go over the top of the crags but I wouldn't get too excited.

Was OK up at Rowtor and Stanton today although I did take a broom and had to brush a thin layer of snow off every boulder I tried.

Pretty good at Froggatt today, dried off as the day went on. Most of the slabs were dry by the end. Sole Power looks like a good bet even if it snows again tonight, it was bone dry even first thing.

Eagle Stone was ok on one side, the other was pretty much snow free by sundown, should be ok if there's no more.

what I could see of Curbar crag looked fine too.

Curbar Gap accessible from the A621 without too much problem.

Could do with a bit of spoon feeding please.  Any suggestions for venues likely accessible from sheffield by normal car next couple of days, not covered in snow, sheltered from the NE death breeze, likely to survive the snow showers, etc. etc.

Indoors could well be more sensible but got skin, motivation and dodgey shoulder doesn't fancy inside.

Never been before but is eatswood a possibility?  Would be keen to try the traverse in particular.
Burbage West and North surviving still? Imagine it might be hard to get and stay warm there though...

cheers

Just walked out to Burbage West and North because the road is closed. All the snow is sticking to the rock and there are big drifts. Think climbing is a no go there for a couple of days :(

Places I'd try would be those with access from A roads and facing away from the incoming weather.  Also crag based bouldering (ie the start of routes) is more likely than boulders.

Somewhere like Birchen, Froggatt, Curbar, Rivelin maybe?  Oh, perhaps Burbage South too.

Add Millstone to that list.

What about Turning Stone Edge for shelter (but not A-road access)?

eatswood can be fine in snow, the problem is getting there. Rivelin is often a safe bet in snow. Millstone can be ok but parts can take runoff once things get melting.

Not really eastern but I find the churnet is often a good bet in the snow, roads tend to be ok its gritted from Alton side down to the ramblers parking, the rock is steep enough to keep the snow off, no top outs mean no snow in the way there and when its this cold no chance of seeping.
