Once again thank you for the much appreciated local knowledge.

Would leave tomorrow night for the day up there on Friday, starting to feel like it might be a relaxing drive during the day on Friday rather than a rushed one after work tomorrow!

Gutted!

Plenty dry this afternoon. Snow only settled on much higher ground. Windy enough to dry things very quickly.

Climbing on Friday looks maybe possible in the morning, based on current forecast. You've got to ask yourself how much are you willing to risk to potentially climb on the grit?

Thanks for update,

looking at the forecasts I'm surprised there was anything to go at yesterday?

Had almost dismissed the thought totally will head up this evening and keep my fingers crossed I think!

Cheers

Am I deluded for thinking an afternoon session tomorrow is a possibility?

It certainly looks like it clears up tomorrow afternoon, humidity dropping to the low 70s. The wind will still be gusting up to 40mph so should be a pretty exciting session regardless.

Wind clearly going to be required to dry the rock off! Any crag suggestions welcome. Does remergence dry quick? Presume gardoms isn't a great shout due to the heathery tops?

Can't work out if a pisstake or not, presumably would be violently windy up there but also very probably dry as a result. Baslow also a thought in my head

40-60mph forecast for High Neb - mint connies. The right bits of Gardoms could be okay as the wind rakes through the trees with leaves down, I can't guarantee north end tho. Baslow could be fine. Most of the edges will get all the wind and dry quick, it's getting the balance as to which ones will be more survivable (hint: not Lowrider ;)).

Just to feed back and say a thank you for the info!

Managed 3 highly unsuccessful hours at cratcliffe on Friday before it started raining in the afternoon. Was far from bon con but dry enough to enjoy trying!

Cheers

Worth risking it tomorrow?
If the forecast is to be believed, this afternoon has been dry and windy...

unfortunately with a number of brief but torrential downpours.

Anyone know what it's like up Curbar/Gardoms today? Has the snow melted or is it still hanging about? Dry and mostly snow free down in the southern peak, although a bit on the breezy side!

Not exactly Curbar/Gardoms, but just back from a run past Ringinglow. Dusting of snow on anything in the shade, everything else is just waterlogged.

Cheers Stabbsy, close enough, think I'll sack it off. Don't fancy the choice of climbing an ice cube or potentially damaging something which isn't properly dry. Back inside!

Recommendations for tomorrow? Looking dry but bloody windy, anything that could’ve dried without being stood in a gale

I just realised that I started this thread, 11 years ago and on a complete whim, and now it's 106 pages long. It took precisely three replies before someone else (Jordan) picked it up and started using it in exactly the same way it is still used now - asking for or giving on the spot updates. The internet can be very cool sometimes.

I reckon most of the eastern edges will be horrifically cold in the wind tomorrow. Burbage West and Higgar Tor, being east facing, should be mostly out of the wind though.

That being said, supposedly there's a big orienteering event happening in the Burbage valley tomorrow which might get in the way a little, so bear that in mind.

Everything will be fucking mint unless it seeps or is a natural vertical bog. Pick somewhere in the trees.
