Hi Shark

Thanks for the forecast much appreciated, was going to head up if it was looking like being a stunner but perhaps not worth it for anything less. Shame

Cheers

Which forecast are you looking at?

Met office suggesting wind and rain Saturday - mild too so I'd add condensation/non-drying to that, then snow showers overnight dying out as wind eases through Sunday. So I'm arranging permissions for Sunday PM as the best chance. But no, I wouldn't drive from much further than S11.

Thanks JB

Have checked yr.no and met office usual places but didn't look like being worth it, but I'm that desperate I need to hear it from the locals to stop me doing something I would have regretted!

Looks like wandering around a damp bovey woods instead

Cheers

Anyone got any first hand knowledge of the peak road connies today? Presume main roads are OK (?! Ringinglow Road?) but wondered whether smaller roads like round High Neb and Curbar Gap would be driveable. Cheers!

+1 if anyone’s got any info that’s be great..

Was hoping to get to Plantation... but suspect the last bit of the road will be a problem (let alone snow on problems etc..)

For the Plantation, the road past the campsite is always the least affected by snow and ice. There's only been a dusting on this side of the hill.

Just remembered our trainer Andy lives in Bamford. He came over via Stanage this morning - it's fine.

I’m going to pass I’m afraid (thanks loads for the reports JB) four hours of lecturing had left me feeling drained and I still can’t shake this cold.

But I’ll make sure I stop at the depot in Leeds and sneeze on the woody holds on my way back 😂

Any news on snow around Bakewell or Matlock. Not necessarily at any crags, just was there been snow in the area yesterday?

I was at Upper Matlock Quarries today and there was a very sporadic, light dusting about.

Apologies for getting anyone's hopes up yesterday, there was very little dry rock on the eastern edges. I had a walk around Stanage, temps are still low and the couple of inches of snow is not melting. On the plus side, the downfall must be well on the way in...

Just got back from Burbage North - fair bit of dry stuff, Remergence, flick in time etc all looked good. Road getting better all the time - I made it up from Hathersage via Higgar in a shitty (snow wise) electric car

Not too good down South today. There has been snow Bakewell way so Rowtor and what we checked at Stanton had frozen snowy topouts.  Fog wasn't helping either leaving everything at Rowtor luminous.
Jackson was better but felt super slick, if anythng it was too cold.

Last light at Burbage was -4 degrees and thick freezing fog. As El Mo reported, lots of rock in surprisingly good nick. Road has been cleared and gritted.

Plantation mostly crocked. Lots of ice on faces where runoff froze overnight. Fresh snow today. South facing things ok but lots of snow plastered on most things. Except Captain Hook. That I’ve swept and am under and not enjoying 😂

Road from burbage to plantation car park untreated and compacted snow. I’ll be going back downhill via camp site road.

All other roads in area are gritted and fine.

Looks like it’s had another 4-5cm since yesterday (eg on top of frozen stuff).

Sat at BBG N parking. Windy and cold. wSS looks dry from here but plenty of snow on top. Streaks on slab next to nose. Debating whether it’s worth going to Remergenfe or having a coffe in Outside :D

Edit. Made it up the road from plantation to bbg - but took some effort (winter tyres too)

The stretch from Popular to Plantation was a bit sketchy at around 3pm, but the Dale was good and clear - Zippatricks at Secret garden was in good nick if that appeals to anyone

Somebody sound the #bossconnies alarm!

Plenty of dry rock at Burbage, just bring a brush for removing snow from the tops.

Anyone head to plantation and (in particular) have a look at zippys? Asking for a friend etc... 😃👍
