He's a friend of mine, I don't know the details of the accident but I do know that he's got some crushed vertebrae and will have to spend the next 4wks on his back.
I won't reveal his identity but he's a very experienced climber with a lot of E7 onsights to his name.

Whoever it is I hope they've got a decent amount of morphine and recover soon.

Rescue sounds like a right old mission. The dales can tend to give the impression of being more relaxed and amenable than many cliff settings, this difficulty with rescue access shows it's not quite like that.

As mentioned he had an op this morning which will hopefully reduce the amount of time he'll have to spend in bed. I went to visit him yesterday and he was in good spirits considering he's in pain and looking at 4-6wks on his back. Because of the op this morning his sister Vicki said to wait until tomorrow or the day after before visiting. For those who want to visit after that he's in ward 5 of the Huntsman building the Northern General.
