Fatneck's been avoiding the real challenge in his life (the cave) by fishing on the Orme and bagging 4 mackerel the other night I hear. I could understand if it was spinning between redpoint attempts on the big link but it's not.

Get yourself out Chris and crush that east coast mackerel scene!

Dug out my old fly tying kit last night. Wonder if I'm living life in reverse.

Underground good work! I gave a away a lot of my materials the other night to my boss' father to tie me a new box of buzzers. Would have saved them for you had I have known (I owe you one from way back mate!).

Mr Starfish, I'm glad to see it! What did you take them on out of interest? Hopefully will make it out to Ladybower in the next few weeks. Incidentally how much is a day ticket? Brenig is 17 pounds stirling which seems something of a dramatic increase compared to a decade ago.

2 took a very slow moving buzzer. The other took a very fast dog nobbler in the shallows. I had a few small perch and 3 little brown trout out of the stream at the east end.

Full day at Ladybower is £12.80, from 2pm is £8.80. Evenings are best as you'd expect, so the afternoon ticket is good value.

Sounds like a snip compared to the £60 plus it costs on Deeside.

I'm the same. I'll do anything to get the first one on the bank. Purism be damned, bring on the dog nobblers, blobs, boobies and cat's whiskers!

On another note, my brother and I will be going for carp this afternoon and I will be taking my brand new Flipcam, so expect some 720p footage of carp catching on the fly!

bring on the dog nobblers
If I had a penny for every time i found myself saying that! "There's dog a'ripe for nobblin', friends, let us bring out the dog nobblers!" It's a stock phrase around these parts.

I was just in here to check this wasn't actually 'quality fisting pics' as I keep reading, but the last page hasn't done much to persuade me really.   Are you all talking in code?  :-\

I suspect beta for bouldering sounds more like the Hokey-Cokey...

Aaah! Would have come in useful too, never mind youth  :) I was pondering that one from way back t'other day whilst lamenting the distinct overburden of books in the house, and reckoning i really need a shitload more shelves sorting ASAP...  ;D

La grande truite et la grande biere: 3lb & 568ml

Caught at Ladybower last night on a tiny gold head nymph in the margins. On my 7.5ft 4/5 weight rod and 2.75lb tippet in open, deep, snag free water it was an entertaining fight; proper big runs. It was worth being piss wet through in the howling wind.
I stopped off at The Vine on the way home to say hi to a mate.
The police turned up just as we were shaking hands out the front and decided to search him on suspicion of drug dealing. Idiot was in possession, but had failed to own up until they found it so was cuffed and put into the back of the van.
They then turned their attention to me and asked if I had anything on me that I shouldn't.
I thought this was a fantastic opportunity to show off my fish so told them that I had nothing on my person , but did have a "fucking big trout in the car".
He asked "are you high on something?" and shone his torch into my face.
I told him the story of the light line, the big fish, the wind and the rain and tried to convey how exciting it had been and how I was still buzzing from the experience.
He said "you really want to show me this 'fish' don't you? You'd better not be wasting my time."
"I'm not trying to waste your time, I'm just trying to make the best of the situation and now that you've locked my mate up, there's only you to talk to"
He said that he could take me to the station for a full drugs search.
I resisted the urge to say something along the lines of - don't you know who I am? I'm J R fucking Hartley!
The humourless wanker didn't come up to the car to see my prize.
As I say. Wanker.

Quality story. Certainly had me giggling. If he'd caught you in posession of a dog nobbler, you'd have been for it though.  ;)

That's genius. Good job as BB says though re the caught in possession with a dog nobbler! Orange booby at Brenig is like fishing a stock pond with a maggot.

Probably heading to Meadow fisheries in Mickle Trafford next week.  Would much prefer to journey to Ladybower but is a little too far at the moment.

Underground, as soon as I move back into my own place, I'll unpack the boxes and sort you. I  am lame, please forgive me!

How unprofessional; should've stashed it in his ass  ::)
