Hubble and Liquid Ambar
April 14, 2009, 03:22:51 pm
Recently got my hands on a copy of 80's birth of extreme, superb. Loving the ben and jerry parts and was wondering how the two crux sections of Hubble and Liquid Ambar line up in terms of bouldering difficulty. They both look unbeliveable and considering the speculation that both could be half a grade harder than they were given, amazing efforts. Also how old were they at there sports climbing peak ? hitting 30 this year and not looking forward to it.

Hubble is a Font 8B/+ with a 7c ish route on top of it. I believe Doylo reckoned the crux section on LA was like two Font 7Cs in a row (making 8A in total).

In fact he did........ http://doylosblog.blogspot.com/2009/03/day-of-reckoning.html

Good to see someone else attempting this route best of luck to doylo. Showed the footage of jerry's ascent to my wife who was more perturbed by jerry's sweat mark in his shorts, I think posing productions should take this as a compliment as it shows what a good job they did at reproducing this archive footage.

LA seems pretty spanned throughout the crux section but I'm sure Ste Mc will prove me wrong on that point sometime in the future.

Pretty sure as it seemed to be as a result of some capillary action from his arse crack, not that i've watched it that much

As an aside the way that Ben did Hubble I reckon was 8B+. Why he did the crux like that I don't know but it really was a ridiculously hard move. I never even tried it that way as it just seemed impossible. And stupid.  ;)
