Tiscali.

I've just heard that Tiscali's future is very uncertain and since they own Pipex I'm going to migrate so can anyone recommend me a new ISP?

I was going to say Nildram but they're part of the same group. Damn.

Nildram have been brilliant so I hope it doesn't happen.

I've heard good things about Andrews and Arnold. I used to recommend Plus Net but they have introduced min 18 month contracts.

i'm with virgin. not had many problems to be fair, but when you do its hard if not impossible to get a proper support response without jumping through umpteen hoops of stock emails responses etc etc "turn your router off and on" etc etc, unless you don't mind phoning an 0870 number. That's my only issue with them to be honest.

Don't go with Talk Talk whatever you do. Fucking wank. We had no internet connection for about four months because it is impossible to get through to their "second line support" (who I don't believe actually exist). So despite knowing what the fault was, we couldn't actually speak to someone to get it fixed. Unbelievably bad service.

Switched to Sky and after a few calls, various tests on the line and two visits from different BT engineers the dodgy phone wiring outside has been replaced and our connection is perfect. Now I know Sky are cunts but seeing as the broadband is basically free (or at the most FUCK ALL) with them if you have a TV package, I'm not complaining.

We're with Virgin. The connection sometimes stops for no reason* which is annoying, but when I have phoned the free 150(?) number the service has been great.

*obviously there is a cause, but not due to anything in our house

Problem for me is finding one with few bandwidth restrictions, fast upload and no bittorrent throttling, etc.

the free 150 number only gets you through if you're on a full virgin phone contract. we're on some kinda half-assed phone+tinterweb thing where they're just subletting it from BT, and hence 150 on our phone still gets us through to BT not virgin.

Sell your soul to The Church Of Branson, Dave. The Rapture is coming soon and no mater what your views on tribulation are, you don't want to be left behind.

Phew!

I just rang Nildram to ask what the outlook was if Tiscali got tits-up.

They assured me that it didn't really matter as their agreement with the banks is independent.

So I'd recommend Nildram again. High quality service, great support, good upload speeds, proper uncapped service (not on every package obviously) and all round yummyness.

O2 as long as you have a mobile phone contract with them.If you've been with them quite a while then you might be able to get 8mb for free or 16mb for FUCK ALL
No download limit and no throttling. Just the usual fair use policy but as long as you don't take the piss you'll be fine and 1mb upload

I guess I should give Pipex a call first and see what they say could be that they are in the same situation as Nildram, I've got no complaints with Pipex apart from customer support which I've only needed once in 5 years.
