this is probably me being shit with computers but every time i check out the weather page the maps all apear stacked on top of each other. why is  this happening to me?

if you mean the weather page that Bubs cleverly stole from the met orifice on here then it does that for me too. Then again, it does that with any linked images on this forum (displays them on a new line) - perhaps its something to do with the way the page is formatted...

In IE they should appear nicely down the page, not next to each other. All images always appear vertically, that's just down to the forum software.

Sorry, but I can't help with Netscape issues. Very few people use Netscape anymore and effectively it's a dead browser now that AOL has axed it's development team.
