Stanage/Plantation conditions
April 03, 2009, 10:43:22 am
I hear its claggy in Sheff at the moment, (its shite here in 'ull too) - was hoping to head over late afternoon for a boulder - any heads up on the conditions? Is it due to burn off?

The weather was like this yesterday. I went to Burbage South in the evening which was just below the mist/clouds and conditions were OK. I'd guess that The Plantation would have been OK.
BBC Weather says its going to clear up later tody.

Just popped outside and it's wall to wall blue sky and sunshine. I hate working in an office with no natural light

Your in luck, the mist has been burnt off and there are currently gorgeous clear blue skies over Fulwood (about a mile or so from Stanage as the army flies). Get over here quick before it changes!

When we were in California last summer we daytripped to Bishop. That was hot, so bleeding hot that we only emerged from the airconditioned car to visit the airconditioned shop to buy ice cream. That same day Chris Sharma repeated a V12 something or other.

I'm sure he waited for the temps to cool off in the evening though.

Aye -can report that it was lovely and sunny but pretty claggy for bouldering.

I went with the intention of trying Deliverance again, which was too warm - it'd been in the sun all morning and Satin, which was too scary on my own with only one pad.

I know, I know, on the latter I did try and MTFU I promise...

Will likely depend on cloud level in the morning, plus any scraps of wind. Check the outside webcam in the morning.

If not anyone know if anyone's made it to the Plantation recently?

Any word on road conditions at all?

Roaches all damp. Needs sunshine of which there was none.  Didn't stop some people leading something log on the lower tier.

Plantation nearly all in: the easy side of the business boulder is wet, and there some squiffy bits on jerrys traverse. Anything that caught the sun was good.

Roads fine too. My gran could have driven the bus up. And she can't drive.

The brightness was pretty fleeting anyway, Burbage and Stanage Right were mostly gash, can't imagine the Planatation was any better.

The rock looked dry enough but it was a misty day so it all felt slightly damp when bearing down.
Cottage was good, Ousal was OK but Gents was damp, didnt make it to Wrights but this could well be in the best condition atm due to its breezy possition. Heavy snow due Saturday tho

Just trying to make the call whether to come up from Derby this morning so a quickish reply would be much appreciated.

Has the rain ruined the rock or is it worth the drive?

Might go to burbage too though so news on either would be good.

Cheers.

Mmm, we drove halfway out and decided to bail on the plan.

Back in sunny Bath now so that's alright enough time to grow skin for a comp tomorrow.
