Higgar Sheepfold
March 31, 2009, 12:36:48 am
Higgar Sheepfold. Good highball fun. Checked it out on Sunday and it's worth a visit. Posting here as it could use a bit of traffic. Nice committing slopey slapping, in the shade during the afternoon. Did the most obvious line, which turned out to be Just Walkin', 7a. Very good, once we'd given the top a bit of a brush. Also did a lowball roof behind the main buttress - called it Roofless People, 7a-ish.

We parked off the road downhill from the normal higgar parking, at a signposted footpath on the bend of the road. Follow this footpath and you're there in 2min.

Credit to Mark Hundleby for all these photos and descriptions. Cheers!

Blue - [Name unknown] Through the overlap left of Just Walkin'. Scrittly and neighbouring buttress a bit too close for comfort. FA: John Welford. Font 7a+ says John.
Green - Just Walkin'. The left side of the front of the buttress to a hueco over the lip. FA: Jon Barton. Font 7a.
Yellow - Sean Penn. Straight up the middle of the buttress. FA: John Welford. Font 7a, almost certainly harder.
Red - Here Be Dragons. From under the roof climb up to the huge hueco on the lip. FA: Mark Hundleby. Font 6c, maybe harder.
Round the back - Roofless People, 7a. Start from the bottom finger rail and cross the roof. Beware the creaky flake.
