Didn't even know pine martins strolled, let alone walked dogs :)

I was walking at Stanage North last night and saw a bright white, very tiny rabbit-like thing. Googling suggests a Mountain Hare? But I thought they'd be in summer colour by now.

Does anyone have any ideas?
Albino kit?

Albino kit?

This is what came to mind. But I thought Albinism was particularly rare. With how white it was we thought it might have been a released / escaped pet.

Stoat is a good shout. But I think it was too small to be a stoat, in comparison to stoat's I've seen previously.

Cool either way. Sadly we didn't get a picture.

Either way, we saw it on the path just above the causeway, it dived into a burrow when we approached. Should be super easy to spot again if it doesn't get eaten.

Often, when we’re diving or snorkelling around Babbacombe, either Sammy or Spot (the resident seals) come in to check us out. Yesterday, Spot was particularly “friendly”. Usually, they’d give us a fair berth when we’re entering the water, but Spot seemed to want to attract our attention and she shot straight back onto the steps as soon as we were in the water.

Polly was intrigued and approached her. Getting a wonderful shot, but realising she had a hook and lure caught in her chest:

So a quick call to “The Seal Project” was made and they’ll monitor her. If it doesn’t dislodge on it’s own they’ll have to catch her and remove it.

This is why I love it here.

Another shot of Spot, chatting to my youngest, last year:

There's a small population in the alps which I think is being bolstered by reintroductions. I saw a few in Val d'isere last Easter. In common with a few other massive raptors the young birds range widely.

Wow, thats amazing. Think you get them in the Pyrenees too.

Imagine having an epic on a route at Curbar and that flies past. Talk about ominous.

Saw my first wild bald eagle in Yellowstone as we were driving. Also saw a load of bears but thought the eagle was more impressive. Apologies if abroad is off topic!

Riglos is great for Vultures.

A Lammergeierflew surprised me flying past a few meters overhead when I was on the La Dent d'Orlu in the Pyrenees. It was huge and for a moment I thought it was a hang glider.

Very envious of those that see this one.

Lammergeier seen in Burbage this morning, looking for an albino hare by the sound of it. Or checking out the moves on West Side Story?

Saw it at the top of Abbey brook last night. Hell of a bird, makes eagles look small and so far surprisingly approachable.

Good week on the Moray Coast, spotted dolphins on first evening, seals on the rocks at Portgordon and an Osprey and seal in the estuary at Spey Bay. Plus usual fare of seabirds, sadly covering most of seaward end of Logie Head, guessing due to lack of activity.

Were its central tail feathers missing? I hear the lammergyer is easily recognisable on this basis (as well as the fact it's massive).
