Plenty of swifts about now and saw my first Sand Martins of the year at Porth Neigwl on Friday directly after moaning that I hadn't seen one yet this year

No cuckoo's heard yet...

Loving the "birds that have sat on me" list Lagers - do you have a "birds that have shat on me" one too?

Carp are spawning on the local this morning - always a highlight of spring!

Lots of cuckoo's heard near us already and I'm pretty sure one has took up residence in the trees not 20m from one of my client's garages.

And about three weeks nago, had the happy privilege to see six red kites in the air together.

Just back off Pabbay, had great fun between climbs watching the gannets dive for fish, the seals being inquisitive, the soaring white-tailed eagles and the bonxies fighting with the oystercatchers and seagulls.

Chukar Partridge on the south west edge of Kinder Scout. Little fella didn't seem at all bothered by me, and let me get within a couple metres before running (not flying) away. Seems very probable he was a game bird despite it being illegal to release this species since 92.

Barn Owl in Peter Dale in the Peak. One of five I've seen so far this year, all mid-afternoonish -- this was 15:30. I had no idea they hunted this early but apparently it's not uncommon in the Winter (pic was late February).

A couple from a recent holiday in Teesdale.
1. Lapwing. These are hard to miss in Teesdale, it feels like there's a nest in every other field. I never tire of seeing them perform their roll and tumble display.
2. Black Grouse in Upper Teesdale, the first one I've seen. Teesdale has 80% of England's Black Grouse population.
I also saw Curlew, Whinchat, Wheatear, Black-headed gull, Redshanks, Red Grouse, Pink-footed geese, Oystercatchers, Golden Plovers and many others. The North Pennines are teaming with birds, I've never seen anything like it in England (Scotland maybe). It's wonderful to see nature thriving, but at the same time a bittersweet reminder of how much has been lost in the rest of the country.

I swear a blue tit flew out of one of the Masters Edge shot holes earlier this week.  "Erm, Sam" saw it two.  Neither of us directly saw it fly out of the hole, but neither could we work out where else it could have come from.  Mad!

I’ve not put much on here for quite a while, although a few of you do follow me on Instagram I think. I have however finally got round to putting together a website of my wildlife photos that I thought you might like to see.

It was done using Adobe’s portfolio template that is free with Lightroom, and as it is very image heavy it isn’t the quickest to load, especially on a phone.

We’ve also just had an amazing trip to Botswana, where we saw a huge variety of wildlife - those are the most recent additions to the website.

Great pics, The Lilac Breasted Roller and Little Bee Eater are stunning birds always remind me of safari trips. Our Okavango trip was meant to be fishing for tiger fish, but was shockingly unsuccessful. Spotting birdlife was a great consolation prize.

The backlit elephant spraying water is so good!

Thanks Chris, we were based in Kasane on the Chobe River. The Delta is definitely on my list of places to visit soon though - it looks amazing.

We were at Shakawe on the Cubango River, just inside Botswana, so not really in the Delta proper. I would love to go to the main part too, shame it's so damn expensive.

Are you following Willackers on Facebook? Looks like he has foregone hard FAs on favour of hooking into monsters.

New Zealand King Salmon would be great to fish for too.

Cheers Fatneck - I’d highly recommend the Chobe area of Botswana, and seeing everything from low down in a small boat made for some good photo ops.

Awesome shots Tim.

Recently I got to witness something pretty cool, to me at least: a Kestrel mobbing a Barn Owl. The cheeky bugger was trying to steal its mouse. It followed it all the way back to its nest but was ultimately unsuccessful.

I got some pics but they're pretty crap (I'm a nub).

The defeated Kestrel resting on the box(the Owl is inside)

In case anyone is interested, the nest is near Roche Abbey in a field west of the sewage works. Walk west from the the layby on Gipsy lane until you come to a footpath to the field.

Cool pics!

Unconfirmed otter sighting when bouldering on the coast the other evening. Need to have a look around the burn nearby to see if there are any traces of it.

So this fella turned up on the boat yesterday, about five minutes after we dropped anchor and stayed with us all day. Absolutely no fear. When we surfaced, after each dive, he dropped in and swam around us, darting right in to almost touch us, then stopping and staring with his head on one side. Then he’d hop back on the boat as we climbed out.

Anyway, a bit of colour from the last couple of weeks, including an authentic Drag Queen Slug:

For those of you in Sheffield, the Endcliffe Park kingfisher is showing very well at the moment. It's mainly switching between Wire Mill and Shepard's Wheel so spend an hour or so at either of those spots and a sighting is highly likely.

Are they invasive there or not?
