I'd be keen for a snowdon trip this summer.

Yoss, I'll hopefully be in alpe d'huez the same week as you with the road bikes if you fancy meeting up for a spin?

Why not do the Snowdon mission on a Friday or a Monday, after the post-Easter weekend riding ban comes in?  Better weather in May, etc...?

TLR - absolutely.  Not entirely sure what out dates are yet, but I need to get on the case sorting it all out. Are you doing La M...?

No, just out there riding and watching Le Tour. Didn't know when/where Marmotte was.

Good info actually, we were thinking of driving down there to arrive in Alpe D'Huez Saturday afternoon, probably not a great idea. I might change that plan now....

How long are you  down there for?

Sorry Fatdoc, not exactly Downhill  Domination....

I go down end of July, and the intention is to go further South. I hate Morzine/Le Gets, too busy, too many braking bumps, too much testosterone.

I am going down with my son (proper little ripper!). We are starting off at Deux Alpe and are hoping to hook up with a French lad we met last year in Andorra. We are then going to follow the Sun south, finishing off around Montgeneve. Should be ace.

When my shoulder gets sorted we should get out down Warncliffe or somewhere and I would also be up for the Snowdon thing if the dates work.

I will be dominating downhill on my new English! If the pads don't wear out!

We were planning to drive down maybe Monday or Tuesday 27/28th June.  The Marmotte is Sat 2nd.

Was originally planning to do the Megavalanche the following weekend, but I think I'll have had enough of crowds by then.

I'm not sure what the others want to do yet.  I like the idea of staying out for a few days for some MTB.

I kind of prefer the idea of Verbier (after seeing your mates video) and doing more all mountain stuff rather than full bore DH.  Especially as I will probably be a withered stick insect by then...

I thought the same tbh - not sure why we're going there again tbh but I'm not driving so have little choice.

Ooh, touchy!

I'd rather go somewhere shit with mates than go somewhere decent with unknowns or on my own.

nothing changes Ian.. were just older, more cynical and more abrupt.

the reference to Big G is one of our mates that has the habit of plowing through stationary groups of MTBers at the end of a run... stops with style... good start to the forum mate... waddage.

as I've not been to the alps for 4 years ( too many kids... too harsh a job) I'm gagging to go back to where it all started for me. frankly I'd drive there solo.. as FBSF has done in recent years.

I do however have ground rules now that I get week every year.... for me. Clubbing like a twat in the med would not be looked upon with favour... but as chairlift MTB is near exclusively a pursuit done best off these shores I will in the future be lookin at other areas in years to come. This year I want the *coming home* feeling of the PDS / Morzine.

I dont think we can rate it as shit... have you seen the videos I linked on here??? I doubt I'll do that shit in its entirety... there is more NS in the trees off the chavannes that looks FULL on...

To be fair, early July might not be too shit. Lifts open mid June so tracks should not be totally fucked by early July. You are only there for a week and you can spend some of that over round Chatal, Avoriaz etc.

We were in Les Gets for 4 weeks, the weather was shit, my son was a year old and it was high season. I would never go back but I am sure you will have a good time.

Next year go to Andorra, it is ACE!!!!!!!

yeah.. when the weather craps out it's a not good place to be.

Though I've inferred you've not been for years.. see the links above.... much more there now ( new mayor)... it's still blackpool for MTB... but hell yeah... I'm up for it! - this year -  andorra next... yes please!! I agree chatal is good.. I was there 1st year they opened the *park* up.. but tbh the les gets / morzine lifts & the super morzine have tons of off the beaten track trails.. get bored at work and surf the standard sites... there's loads!

Ian, you do cwmcarn etc? ... during the spring? come whoop my ass... in the nicest possible way! sound like yr lad will kill us all...

I've never suffered for the testosterone shite... apart from twats in the bars... but if you ask rite you get the VIP seats in the bhudda bar... sorted.

Never done the uplift thing in the UK, definitely up for it this year.

This Feb half term probably going to try the Forest of Dean, maybe Cwmcarn. Son is only 7 but rad as!!. What grade would Cwmcarn get if it was in the alps??

Fatdoc - I will all pedalling related chat elsewhere, and leave you with your pensioner friends to reminisce about your eight well-damped inches and sweaty body armour...

(I do quite want to go back to Cwmcarn though...)
