Linux / ipod help
March 08, 2009, 08:32:56 am
Hey

I'm away travelling at the moment and have a lovely E-pc running Linux with me. The problem is, when I plugged my ipod into it, music manager loaded and automatically blanked all the music off it. The files are still on the ipod but it seems like the ipod software can't read them (it just says no songs). Has anyone heard of this happening before or know how to undo what music manager did?

Thanks, Mickey.

I've played around with ipods under Linux in the past.

In order to get it working I basically had to wipe it and start afresh using Gtkpod.  Whether this is readily available for you Eee depends on what distro your using on it.  The default is a customised version of Xandros and I've no experience with that particular distro or its package management.

To get it back to functioning plugging it into a Mac/M$-windows computer with iTunes might do the trick, but you may also find that it wants to reformat the iPod.

Ok thanks, I will look into that. I have tried plugging it into a windows itunes and it just wants to reformat it so I don't think that will work.
