The Matrix Bouldering - Sheffield
March 04, 2009, 12:37:02 pm
Saw a couple of pictures last night on UKC of the Matrix centre thing in Sheffield, it looks pretty decent, was just wondering if its any good?, i've never heard anybody say that they climb there or anything, do many people actually go to it? what are the problems like?

Perhaps theres a reason no one mentions it   :devangel: ;)

Best option is to simply get your arse down there and make your own mind up.

It actually looks a bit better than the edge bouldering though :S , and yeah, I might just go one day and see.

It gets roasting as soon as outdoor temps get in double figures. There's not much hard stuff to go at, the main reason to go there is that it tends to be closer to where most students live eg. i can go there on the way to 11 o'clock lectures if i'm motivated enough to get out of bed and do a double-session-day which aint true of any other walls (except for the trusty fingerboard). Despite the campus board being wierd (the rung's aren't incut and thus are slopey on an overhanging wall) i've convinced myself that this should be even better for contact strength than normal campusing. Whether this is true or not I don't know.
