Deep but clean and on a manageable side. Sucks that it happens before a trip but I reckon you could find ways to work around it once it's mummified in tape... :icon_321:  (smiley for finger reasons only!)

On Boxing Day I spotted a glorious two week weather window in the south of France, and the perfect opportunity to escape the abject ming of North Wales for some sunny climbing.

The van was packed, the ferry booked, travel insurance purchased, the heating switched off ready to leave, I could practically feel the sun on my face...

And only then remembered that both of my passports are at the Passport Office.  :slap:  :wavecry:

Noooooooo! Could have been worse. Friends recently drove from Aberdeenshire as far as Dover, before realising only 3 of the 4 passports for the family were in the wallet they keep them in, he used his just before for work.

Yes, that was the first bit of solace I reached for - at least I remembered before driving to Dover.

Also that we hadn't paid for accommodation. No refund on the ferry though  :(

The price of not making plans in advance (and of being a forgetful eejit).

:(  Ferries missed, flights cancelled, flights missed, cars breaking down (multiple), rental cars disappearing, luggage lost by airline (multiple, including a big wall rack), gear stolen, accommodation cancelled hours before arrival, personal injuries (multiple), partners going missing...all seemed NNFN at the time but all could be worked around. Some of my best trips included one of these!

Passports have absolutely no work-around. I have discovered this twice, or three times if you count a friend who discovered he had the wrong one at the airport.

I once stood in the exit queue at Dover in pre EU (blue) passport times, just next to a disconcerting sign reminding me I needed to have a valid passport for travel. A quick look confirmed mine had expired 3 months prior. At Calais, the Douane greeted me with a cheery “Ah, Briteesh” and my passport remained thankfully uninspected.

I think those days have gone.

No refund on the ferry though  :(

Too late to even request a date change. Sometimes a cigar called Hamlet is all you can reach for.

Rocking up on a boulder today and felt a lovely little pop-slap as some of my right quad decided it wasn't having fun.

Thankfully full ROM and only very mild ache with no bruising thusfar so should sort itself in a week or three, but pretty sub-optimal one month out from a Font trip.
