I've worked my ass off for two weeks on a single document for a lawsuit, sent everything off this late morning with 33 other separate attachments, each one with a separate digital signature, certifications, notifications, certified email data and everything, only to find out, upon having access to the digital folder, that the hearing, due for next week, has been postponed to may 2022.
Now I want to cry.

While it doesn’t help your current problem, it’s worth raising a complaint about this. We had a similar issue with the survey holding up the mortgage and not actually seeing the survey before having to commit to everything else. We got money back from the surveyors and £500ish from the lender.

I think we will given how much back and forth and stress it causes. Good to hear you got a decent amount back from it!

The thing that annoys me a lot is that you call the bank and they take the money for the valuation. Then anytime there's an issue the response is that it's all handled by a third party and I'll need to contact them.

Luckily, someone finally said the bank could actually escalate it and it's now been brought forward to 8th October (the eighth time it's moved...).

As much as the Scottish Home Reports are not worth the paper they're written on as an actual survey, at least the system means that shit can't happen!

(so for simple transactions you don't need to get your own survey  / valuation).

That's what happens in England.

In Sheffield it was delays due to courts dealing with a few big cases (Rotherham grooming etc). Now it's been made worse by Covid precautions.

Makes a right mess of people's lives (or gives some people plenty of time to get their affairs in order before going to prison)

Basically, yes.
This is a civil lawsuit, but it's the same with criminal cases. I have another postponed to 2022, I represent the victim of an aggression, and at the moment of the hearing the crime will be already expired and non prosecutable. So the author will walk away and the victim won't have the financial reimboursement and I'll have to do a civil lawsuit for that.
