stuff at 'illstone like green death superdirect and masta chef are probably safe bets.

I'm no good at picking sensible venues when the weather is bad (apart from the board), I'm taking it the weekend isn't looking good in the Peak?

I think the cave will tear me up in all honesty, I haven't been board strong for a long time now. I am keen but its too hard for Nat and seeing as though I'm a lazy skiving type during the week its only polite to TRY and go somewhere with stuff for her as well.

Doylo - you have no idea. The spare room (in a top floor flat) is 8.5ft wide, 12ft long, and about 8ft high and is in serious risk of not being spare for that much longer. I honestly thought the works board would be the saviour of board climbing in Sheffield. Bigger fool me! Roll on July, the School is dead, LONG LIVE THE NU SKOOL!

if there's snow on the tops then crag based bouldering is often a winner, and the more crag above the problems the less chance you've got of runoff/meltwater. i went to millstone a few weeks back when a lot of places like savage garden and burbage were wet on top, it was fine. plus the wind was easterly when snowing so shouldn't be any plastered-on snow. this if course is no use to me since i did both the above problems on that visit so i'm shit out of luck. broomgrove road anyone?

(paul, your spare room sounds about twice as big as my old cellar was, so you should get a monster board in there).

Definately. I just have to be able to convince her that she NEEDS a board and not draws/shoe space or a spare bed for the inlaws to stay in or whatever else that other people do with spare space

build some kinda elaborate shoe racking system behind the board as a compromise!

Or a walk in wardrobe, with an elaborate shoes racking system in it!

Ned and Dan have the spare bed problem sorted...

that board is 8ft by 12 ft by 10 ft high... making it steeper wouldn't be an option and now I think everyone wants to take it off their hands!

I could build my own version but there'd be no point as it'd fill the room so might as well be fixed. Anyway this is all very  :off:

Surely the committed will be out this evening, brushing the snow from the tops of the boulders in readiness for the big melt tomorrow...

Though having just walked into town, it feels as though the melt may have begun already?

eatswood trav will probably be dry?

Crag problems...

Frogatt e.g. Sole Power etc?
Curbar - Sean's Arete?

Surely the finishing holds on the trav will be wet, they were wet after light drizzle the first time I went to the crag!

Just had a brief visit to a few venues on the eastern edges.....

Curbar: Seans arete would be a good option - bone dry. So to is Walk on By, and Great White and Ben's wall are both kosher. Trackside however is suffering from lots of run off so warmups may be an issue....

Froggatt: Similar, Sole power looked fine, some other Highball stuff, narciussus/oedipus/mint 400 all looked spot on. Did'nt bother heading to Renegade although i suspect the start/first 2/3rds are ok, but top out will be covered and maybe be running off onto lower half???

Burbage West: Western eyes - bone. WSS - proper finish was damp but no more snow to melt of top....

Stanage; Road from pop end to plantation CLOSED.  (although i suspect fine in a proper 4X4 - not a chelsea tractor!)

As Tom and Dave said try problems on crags rather than blocks and there is loads to go at and its great nick too, beautiful blue sky and no wind!

eatswood trav. sounds like a good option to me....

Curbar: Walk on By

Has this been stabilised yet? If not is it best avoided to stop it getting more trashed?

Churnett was in fine nic last Sunday. Ousal,Cottage, Wrights, Gentleman's etc all good nic.

It snowed on and off but it didn't stop play.

Good venue for snowey/drizzle days as its so roofy.

Can you get up to Burbage from Hathersage pretty easily NCB? And how was the North side looking?
