This misery was compounded when a Vauxhall Tigra pulled up beside me.

That's a harsh tale but I have to ask just what ill built crock of shit are you driving if it won't move when a Vauxhall Tigra can still manage to maintain some sort of forward momentum...  ;)

an audi a4.  i was about to make an excuse about the tyres, but life's too short.

the tigra's forward momentum was no doubt down to the aforementioned "driving a cortina around a muddy wood weekend" skills of the boyfriend.

Had a fantastic time sledging on the homemade sledge at dovestones reservoir (wimberry) this afternoon.
Sledge made from bouldering mat inside large thick plastic bag.
Little Ellie was enjoying herself until we wiped out on the last run.
Should of taken the snowboard as well

Headed up to the Buckstone. Dyno and spring voyage were in perfect nick, there's no snow on top so should be fine tomorrow. Also had a wander around plantation, cleaned a few things off but most had snow on top. Might be alright for the early bird, before it melts.

The roads in the valley are fine, I know that's not what you asked but there you go.

Well here's a road report for myself, by myself. For those in Sheffiedl, the Ringinglow road is pretty clear except for slush up to Apparent North. The hill down to Stanage past Overstones farm is then packed snow which looks like 4WD territory. From a conversation I had I think the Higgar road is ok though.

Lots of dry rock, and dry top-outs, looks like most stuff west facing with a clean-cut rock top will be fine.

Aye I got a bit annoyed with that 2nd sidepull last night Jim! Rest of it was in amazing condition though. There was a bit of a breeze blowing in as well so hopefully that will continue along with a low and stable temp till Saturday  :please:

Johnny, I went to stanage the back way, past Dennis knoll woods. Should be alright in a 2WD. most of the road has been cleared, although I reckon it's gonna freeze over tonight.
Reckon I'm heading back to stanage first thing tommorrow if we don't get any more snow.. customers central heating will have to wait (parts are in the post!)

More snow this morning and our road required gritting.  I would imagine the roads to stanage will be very bad.

Sheffield is fucked at the minute. I am just glad that I am at work watching the spectacular displays of incompetence at the wheel by Sheffield's finest instead of being out there amongst them.

I had the delight of overtaking cars crawling along at snails pace with their wheels spinning as I cycled up to Fulwood this morning.  At the same time there was a very long queue of traffic from the top of Fulwood all the way down to Broomhill and only one person sat in most cars (not that thats unusual!!), I was laughing all the way

Passed that queue going the other way, was a bit sketchy though, lost it 3 times! Though only on my arse once, due to an even sketchier cyclist in front.

A bit of a covering in Shoreditch again this morning. I'm driving to Sheffield this evening after work, how bad is the snow? Will I have to abandon on the M1 and hike in to S7?

All the main roads in Sheffield are totally clear and the M1's fine up here. Not so good further South by the looks of things.

How about on the other side of the Pennines?  Is there much snow around Burnley?  Or specifically, is there much up round Widdop and that way?

Anyone out that way, been up there in the past day or so?

A fair bit of snow in Tod but it is disapearing, however the hills still look very white so I'd guess Bridestones and Widdop would be snow covered/wet.

Anyone got any recommendations / ideas for shizz that'll be climbable (pref eastside) if it stays like this over t'weekend?

Oh, and places that I'll actually be able to drive to in a rear wheel drive BM that hasn't got any traction control...

I was thinking the stuff on the edges at Burbage North, ditto Stanage Far Right, Burbage West, Secret Garden...anything else?
