Caersws uplift day helmet cam vid
January 30, 2009, 02:11:34 am
Whilst I was digging out that Market Rasen vid I found this old one too.

It's me following Fatboyslimfast down the Midland Track at Caersws.

We're not going particularly quickly - it was either an early run or a late run when we were pooped.

Anyway, gives you an idea of the place - well sort of as it doesn't show the steepness and this is a very steep hill indeed!

I nearly go over the bars near the bottom when you can hear me go "nearly!" :)

Fucking great venue, would be hardcore in the wet.

The crux of this track is the little step-down at 1:50 - awkward and steep.

 Nice I'm liking helmet cam, pretty good quality considering how uneven the ride is.  Looks pretty steep in places too.

Looks awesome Bubba!!
Just getting in to the MTB myself and some of that stuff looks scary!
Tried going over my first jump the other day, didnt think about it and I was already over the bars before the front wheel hit the floor!!
I landed right next to a tree stump so counting myself lucky!
Practice makes perfect...  ::)

What helmet cam you got? I have just ordered a gopro helmet hero wide, hopefully waiting for me in Whistler.

That looks brilliant.
I never thought I'd find myself being attracted to that sort of riding TBH, but it looks great

It was one from RF Concepts - you hook it up to your camcorder via the DV-IN port.

It's an old race course - the braking bumps aren't that bad really, nothing like those in Morzine.

Thanks :)

Yeah, just start on small jumps that your comfortable on and get used to how you need to position your body on the bike. Build up slowly and you'll be fine...

Looks smart. Got the suction cup mount for mine so can mount it on front of surf / snowboard too.

The main problem with my setup is wires everywhere and loose connections. I lost some nice Morzine footage due to the braking bumps vibrating the connection loose. I think that solid state HD thang that Fatdoc has got looks the best thing. I'm just waiting for this year's model to get released so he can sell it off for peanuts ;)

I can vouch for that footage being NO where near to
Showing you the verticality of some of that course, and there are harder there!!

Forget seeing my vio cam for sale bubs... It's the shizzle

Dolly, get bubs to put up the snippets of storthes hall, 30 mind away and a good place to do your first perfect groomed obligatory drop :)

Too right, the NPS run was so steep it wasn't funny.

"Pointy" in Greno is a lot closer than Storthes ;)

"pointy" bubs I think you forget is about twice as big if not taken at slow speed with a down slope to drop off that terrifies many a man... get those vids up and we'll have a poll!!

There's a "Son of Pointy" now - you can launch just to the left of the rock for a much smaller drop - some kids on hardtails were doing it the other week :)

I think the drop at Storthes is quite scary for a beginner - do you mean the one after the two tight berms?

What about the small rock drop at the top of the track that leads down to The Jump Spot in Wharners? Think that was my first one.
