Connies were indeed rank at the cove. Still, midges, warm. Misty, claggy air. Suffer fest.

Very impressive going to Trow today, Moose!  :o

Needs must. It was the desired location of the only belay I could find.  The midges were awful; I was grateful that  rain gave a more legitimate feeling reason to bail.  I suspect I'll look like a bubonic plague victim tomorrow!

Have known the little mighty mite since he was a tinier beast, using non-holds between the good uns on boulders in North Devon.  We can throw bags full of tenacity and enjoyment of the climbing into the equation too.  Also a certain coach that worked with him and others from the area definitely had a big influence, along with his dad aka ‘OAP E3’ who took the boys outdoor climbing most weekends/school hols.  Great to see and there’s more to come I’m sure.

Looks like James Squire has had a good start to his Rockland's trip.

Sky (8b+) on Tuesday, fragile steps (8b) yesterday and ray of light (8b) today. Will be good to see what else he gets up to!

Out of interest, does anyone happen to know what the second most repeated 9a in the UK is?

Caff repeated Masters Wall and says it’s one of the most serious leads he’s done (and he’s done 200 E7-9!). Reckons Jerry may have climbed E9 in 1983!

Yeah caff's blogging is great. Always manages to slag someone off nicely, grumpy Scots are a worthy target.

If I was contracted to provide 10 orrages a week but I instead provided 1 really good banana a month, I’d probably lose that contract.

Hey up chaps, here’s a link to an bit of audio from a chat I had with Caff last year about his climbing. This bit is about the onsight attempt on Master’s Wall in 2000. A film that never got made before going into retirement unfortunately. One of the keenest and most understated climbers I’ve met, and he looked genuinely surprised / taken aback when I pointed out he’s surely one of the best (trad) climbers this country has ever seen.
