Looking at the pics it seems he is wearing a knee pad but no knee bars, is it now the case that not only do pads make knee bar rests into cheating they also make normal climbing easier to?

looks awesome

Knee pads make life easier. I'm going to get one, and wear it all the time.  ;D

It's not clever to laugh at a person's name.

Although it didn't stop us when we were at school.....

Hasn't he got a bad knee in those warrior films? Could be wearing it as support....

Looks like when he gets higher he'd be able to slot in a left knee scum against the arete with foot on the left. Innit.

His blog on the repeat is good for gaining a bit of French bouldering vocab! http://guillaumeglaironmondet.blogspot.fr/2013/01/the-big-island-winter-project-done.html

so, this was in the "quality bouldering videos" before:

and i was just thinking it is a bit weird that this is called "the same problem" that Dave Graham and Dai Koyamada (haven't seen other videos) climbed.
i know it's the same line (even though Graham traverses right before he tops out) but Kruder and Koyamada "hardly share two moves" on the whole thing.
just feel it is a bit odd for one of the hardest lines in the world

I think it's cool that one of the hardest probems in the worls has loads of different beta to suit different people. I've seen quite a few videos of the dagger now and they are rarely identical sequences.

I was just thinking that people who think that different sequences climbing the exact same, non-eliminate bit of rock are in any way not "the same problem" are weird. So there you go.

+1. At least there isn't any prescribed sequence bollocks

Aye, a good sign that it is a true line and a true feature to be climbed.

Boswell's ticked Mr MacLeod's The Cathedral (X/11). This is a pretty good significant repeat: http://gregboswell.co.uk/

Old news now, but Jan Hojer repeated the Big Island, commenting (on ukc)

"I don't think that the additional two moves make a big difference in difficulty. Probably a two move 7A into The Island but it's way cooler to start with a proper stand start..."

What are the chances that Jan's 7A grade is a little stiff?  ;)
