Ken Yager reports on supertopo that Alex Honnold has soloed The Phoenix in Yosemite.  Phoenix is "only" a single-pitch 5.13a (7c+) but the business is technical insecure thin jamming and it is a long way up in the air.

Not Alex

Very wadworthy. As an aside, does anybody know the style? Onsight/flash/headpoint?

I would wager a head point as an onsight solo or flash would be off the chart on this difficulty of crack. he didn't onsight solo moonlight buttress and that is a 5.12+:

I will stand corrected if was onsight though!

According to his spray sheet he did it second go back in 2006; insecure hand jam 7c+ sounds horrible to solo whether you've practised it or not!

Puts Jerry's onsight (roped) in the mid 80s in an even better light.

Good point Andy, I was just thinking that (82 or 83 wasn't it?).

Still, fair play to the guy for soloing it - mental!

It's still significant as it's not a regular occurrence
