Caff has done Revelations. Not significant in itself, but apparently that means he's now completed Extreme Rock...

Amazing feat. Do I read right that it cannot be repeated as one route is now gone completely?

No idea who wrote the preamble to the ticklist but this is peak UKC

But who will claim the ultimate prize? To complete the whole lot without even one fall, totally free, completely onsight.

Sounds like Fiend 🤣

Love that Revelations was the last one to fall rather than some rarely dry Highland esoterica or something.

As he said to me last night "What a relief, I now never have to go to Raven Tor ever again".

Good T shirt quote material that.

Well it sounds like Controlled Burning can still be done as he reckoned E7, glad I did it 30 years ago when it was a nice E3.

Footless Crow is a bit of a weird one, not sure the UKC description is correct. I did the direct after something fell off but since then another undercut might have parted company?

Then you’ve got things like Cave Route which has been retroed? Was one of the best E6s in the country.

Return of the Native at Mewsford has fallen down completely but Caff did it prior to the rockfall. Not sure it matters though, although there is something nice about this being a completely unique achievement.

Pembroke section was a bit weird anyway with Mewsford now overshadowed by loads of other stuff and Kim Carrigan’s piece being, er, not the greatest writing.

It is a real shame that (presumably) Extreme Rock II was never a viable project. Given we have tomes such as The White Cliff and then absolutely knockout coffee table books like Alpenglow.

Yeah, that's what I meant, having read the article. I like the uniqueness, I guess the only other potential suitors would have had to have done that route before it fell down too. Any takers?

A sweeping multi-decade effort from the Highlands to remote sea crags , re-climbing fallen down routes, overcoming PTSD at Cloggy and the whole thing came down to a font 7c crank off a pocket next to the ground at a ridiculously polished roadside crag (presumably damp?) with Shark shouting CUNT in Ben’s Roof a stone throw away.

You know it’s big climbing news when people are reposting it on their Instagram stories as if no-one else has heard about it.

It’s an unfathomable achievement that even those of us still holding out hope of finding a copy of the book for a sensible price can’t begrudge. Let’s not forget that he did at least some of the routes in Red Chillis too.

Steve Mac has done the second ascent of Gresh’s Mega Deep Water Solo, Olympiad 8b by leading it 🙃

No comment on grade but says it’s the hardest piece of climbing he knows of in Pembroke which given that includes Choronzon which he agreed with Mawson was 8b+ suggests an upgrade.

Waddage! Surprised he didn't go for the DWS as he's no slouch in that department, though the weather isn't great for it at the mo.

On the grade, maybe climbing it on hear bumps the grade up? Gotta add some difficulty hanging around on that sort of ground to fiddle the kit in.

Maybe the rope drag adds difficulty level too :)
