I wonder what's next on this road to redemption,

The Jordanian legal system may have let him off the hook but he should never be allowed to have his UK passport back

Quite right, drytooling cunt. There has been a notable reduction in reports of damage on rock routes 'from axes' since his extradition.

Sorry guys - I was reading a post from sloper in reply to jasper and getting confused. My reply to sloper was improperly arsey as well. My apologies.

Bloody 'eck, if you think that's arsey you need to recalibrate your arseometer.

My mate Jamie

How old's your mate Jamie and are they after sponsorship? Best specify male or female too. Pics would be good if female.

Er, Emma Twyford did Strawberries.

Significant?  :worms:

I think the bar should be at a level around 8c+/9a & E9/10.

Or rarely climbed iconic classics?

Well, at least it's got people thinking about it, which can't be a bad thing.

By my rules no, not significant nationally, E8 and above for females, why compromise? E7 has been climbed absolutely yonks ago by females, so justify why it should be news today?

It is an iconic route though, I'd absolutely love to do it, well done Emma.

This is significant due to the status of the route rather than the grade attached to it.

I have spoken, well done Emma a fine effort indeed.

In someways I agree with that but all of that stuff will be splattered all across UKC anyway, I think it is nice hearing about UK-based, non-sponsored-super-hero people doing things even if they aren't at the absolute cutting edge.
For example I would prefer to read about a young person doing their first f8b than AN Other's 25th font 8b+ of the year on this thread

Maybe we need a "Amatuer Significant Repeats" thread :)

Then we can add in a "weekend warrior repeats"....

A rare onsight and a rare (1st?) female ascent, same as surely.  Both significant in my book and glad to read about them both.

Anyway, let's just hope she makes a better job of a film about it.

The two thoughts - 'being glad to read about it' / thinking it's not so significant - aren't mutually exclusive. I hold both thoughts.. To think standards could be higher doesn't imply a negative. I think Emma should be aiming for routes like Big Issue and getting up them without too much bother, she's good enough. Strawberries should have had an ascent by a woman about 15 years ago and the only reason it hasn't is because standards (self belief?) outside of a talented few women are very low.

Tom Randall tweets: "El Corazon linked with Pre Muir"

I'm guessing he means chronologically (incredible) although it might be possible to start up the Muir and link into El Corazon rather than usual Freeblast start.

Either way, they've not wasted any time getting on it in Yosemite.

Tom Evans photo of the team on El Corazon. Tom says it's on the Golden Desert pitch but it looks like the A5 traverse to me.
