Shawn Rabatou also climbed Story of three Worlds twice in a session becuase he dabbed on the a tree the first time he climbed it.
So he just climbed it once then  ;)

I guess this has been on the cards for a while, the most surprising thing is how easy she seems to have found it. Janja climbs Bugeleisen sit

Excellent stuff. To me she looked like she was trying hard!

The post also alludes to the other "full circle" factor in his life since he left Squamish in 2007 for the Swiss monastery. Once just local gossip, it seems like that story is now mostly in the public domain but perhaps not? Anyway I bet the Sender/ Reel Rock crew are keen to film an update: the #1 feel good story in climbing of the last couple of decades?

Summary here if you want the 60 second version https://climbing-history.org/climber/824/didier-berthod

Grimers pod with him (linked on the page above) is really good if you want the details.

Good article in Climbing, not yet paywalled: https://www.climbing.com/news/didier-berthod-climbs-cobra-crack-5-14-squamish/

Not mentioned is that Didier's daughter Cedar is also a crusher, winning the lead event in the Canadian Championships last winter and now in the national team.

Anak Verhoven has climbed La Planta de Shiva in Villanueva del Rosario for her first 9b. She joins Laura Rogora, Julia Charnoudiere and Angela Eiter as the only women to have climbed the grade.

I loved that she said (on Nugget podcast) that when she first started climbing as a little girl, she practiced her signature in anticipation that people would be asking her for it when she became a famous climber.

Good read, thanks!

(And now I realise he's not referring to Cedar Wright  )

Thanks for this, quite the redemption story. Paywalled now but available here of course: https://archive.ph/b4Dzp

(Whilst she's also Didier's daughter, I imagine Cedar had a lot more influence from Thomasina Pidgeon until recently).

Yes. Though that may be a mixed blessing. On the one hand she grew up from birth as a climbing dirtbag, travelling the world to bouldering venues; on the other hand, living in a minivan with your mum cant be easy, and I also recall Thomasina had a major falling out with the Canadian comp establishment at some point, but maybe that isn't quite accurate. A strong/ unusual character, anyway. I very much hope Cedar writes a Katie Brown style autobiography at some point in the future.
