[Dubstep] Can somebody ID this tune?

The first tune in this vid? I love it. Big tune but being a newcomer to Dubstep I don't know the name.

I get the feeling that it's Skream and we listened to it in the car on the way to the wall last night.

Tom had it on his mp3 player so it's likely to be old.

Try this one Bubba. Yet another Skream tune. You should get yourself over to Exodus in Leeds. Best Dubstep night in the country (and therefore the world!)

This is an unbelievable tune too. Most Kode 9 is. He's giving a lecture at Liverpool Uni soon about the future of sonic warfare, should be interesting:

Well it's not on any of the Skreamizms vols 1-5...but i've accumulated some quality music along the way so it's not all bad.

So what is it?

Cheers Tom but i'm far too old to go to a Dubstep night myself ;) I'm just becoming a fan after listening to many a MAH show late at night :)

I liked this Skream mix CD - varied but consistent

Dubstep is a fucking weird music. None more so than those two tracks above.

Yes it is! Nice one Houd, good IDing skills :)

It was done in collaboration with Silkie.

Unfortunately as yet unreleased so I can't get a copy - damn.

Email them / him / it on myspazz.  Ask for an mp3.  Tell them you want to gig it.  Might work.

It's a her :)

I think it'll be out soon anyway but that is a good idea. Apparently the tune ID was in the youtube tags but I was too dim to see it. Great tune anyway - i'm collecting some tracks from this more soulful end of dubstep and will use them to do my first Ableton mix as I still can't afford the controller I want.

Behringer BCR 2000 is very affordable, reliable, enough buttons to experiment w/ linking FX etc..  Just over a ton.

I'm probably going to wait until M-Audio bring out the next version of the Xponent. It seems to be exactly what i'm after but has had too many issues to tempt me to buy one of the current ones.

Actually, having just spent a few hours playing with Ableton (i understand the basics finally) I can see how a controller would be extremely useful, but really one with a crossfader and/or some sliders would be great - any cheapo things like this available?

Edit: This one looks funky.

Crossfader?!   Old skool, fella.

4 channels OK. 3 tracks to mix one more for extras such as playing your own loops over it all.  Sound gets too busy w/ more than 4 channels IMO.  Looks fine.

Ableton's great.  Takes care of the mundane stuff (beat matching) leaving time to loop and fiddle and generally be more creative.  I'm a fan.

What do people use instead now? Surely anything other than a straight fade will take ages to get right just using the software?

Just a normal knob?  Think X-faders kinda weird, but guess that's just me.   :-[

Done the first 3 tracks in Ableton - straight mixes, done some EQ on the mixes themselves and a bit of reverb on one of them. Really just messing with Ableton to get used to it but the results are ok. On a final mix i'd do a lot more EQing and fading, etc. Probably up the tempo a little too.

Tracks are:
1: Silkie - Cyber Dub
2: Quest - The Seafront
3: Quest - Hard Food

Sounds good so far.

Have you experimented w/ mixing 'in key'?  There's some program out there that you punch in your tracklist and it orders it in key, low to hi.  The effect is weird, kinda like there are no beginning and end to each track.  I forget the program, I'll phone a friend.

Maybe Irish Si will know?
