It's dry.. But blustery with threatening clouds that seem to be steering clear. A day for the keen!

Hopefully this is an appropriate place to post.

LUUMC will be at Almscliff (weather permitting) on Sunday. There'll be a quite a few beginners in tow, many of whom we're trying to get to lead stuff. 20 odd people in all.

I'll make sure everone's on their best behaviour. I only ever have good feedback from other crag users about the club's conduct so I don't anticipate any problems. If anybody has any problems and has cause for complaint please seek me out at the crag and let me know directly.

Shouldn't be any top roping. A mix of trad and bouldering.

Hopefully there won't be anyone trying to shake their way off a Bird's Nest Crack solo this time  ;)

If you could stay off the routes above Demon Wall Roof you'd definitely make a lot of friends: will prob be the only dry crag in the county on sunday.

If LUUMC is feeling charitable Will...

There is a double mattress and old duvet that had been dumped over the wall (last thursday) by the parking lay by at the Cliff - and when I was there on Wednesday day the farmer (presumably) had chucked it back over the wall into the lay by. I guess he was ferked off with shit being dumped there (as he does get - I've chatted to him at some length about it in the past).

Anyway, if you are mini-bus bound, it might be a nice touch if said knackered old mattress could be lashed onto the top of one of the busses and taken to a less solubrious part of Leeds to be dumped (e.g. a hall of residence!  :) ) etc..?

Just a suggestion - I was thinking of posting on here about whether anyone leedswards had a van that could do the job - after all its good to keep the farmer sweet... but wasnt sure where to post etc..

I wish I could, Tom, but we'll be on the train. I'll see if any of the car drivers are willing to do the business.

Or you could be Continental and stick it under Jess's Roof and have some in situ padding!

Yeah shouldn't be a problem. I imagine if anybody wants to do Demon Wall or Dolphinian they'll be one of the more experienced members so shouldn't be a problem. Certainly wouldn't want to see any top ropes up along that wall though.

Conduct was good under your watchful eye at Stanage Plantation last year Will

I'm going to get my axes and crampons out and do the first winter ascent of the Keel - then pretend to be from LUUMC - I've got my disguise (a 1993 club T shirt) ready... and I've already drafted a UKC report on the ascent..   ;)

I wish I could, Tom, but we'll be on the train. I'll see if any of the car drivers are willing to do the business.

No worries - just a fleeting thought... if anyone else is about there though with something van sized.....

The mattress was still there on Sunday but I was unable to take it away (full car) but I might go up this week. is there a tip nearby or would it be best taking it to a tip in Leeds?

Yeah, the Kirkstall Road tip is pretty close to me anyway, I was thinking of taking it there. It was still there when I left this evening... Don't know when I'll next be free to take it away.

It'll dry out if it doesn't rain.

was lovely today

Ach, I went yesterday, and as I drove past the A1 at about 2:30, the sun was shining and it took alot of will power not to turn off and head up there again (my arms were still trashed from yesterday mind...)
