What do folk think the 'cliff'll be like today? Had about 1cm of snow overnight in the peak and don't really wanna get the brush out. Will it be worth the drive?

Cheers

It's wet here at the moment, but no snow. Very claggy too. My bones tell me it'll improve for this afternoon with brightish spells though there's no wind so drying might take a while. If anywhere will be climbable.....

Cheers.
Just spoke to someone in Harrogate and they said there's been a bit of sleet and it's now foggy and damp, so probably claggy and damp at 'cliff. Forecast suggests better weather this aft so I reckon there'll be some dry rock later, not sure it's worth the drive for me though.
Thanks for the info though.

Found this the other day, might be useful as it's not too far up the road...

Anyone been up today? Hoping to go tomorrow, but not sure how much run-off/ snow there'll be.

In particular looking at Virgin traverse, Demon wall roof and Si's arete, I'm hoping all these areas should be ok as they don't top out, but any local knowledge would be great.

Cheers

They are three of the areas that are often the driest.. Even if its been pissing down Virgin traverse will be fine and the face of DWR dries off V.Quick.. Si's Arete is sheltered from above and windswept.. need I say more! Its been lovely here 50 miles to the east, so I suspect its been great up there today, but theres a f*cking cold wind so that might be the real enemy tomorrow!
Enjoy, T

Does Jess' roof get much run off or the Virgin face

Yeah thought they would be good, just needed some reassurance. Reckon it'll be baltic tomorrow maybe down on the virgin, but Demon and Si's should be sheltered from the bitter North-easterly's, and hopefully plenty more to go at round that side.

It's been a cracker here in the peak aswell this aft, here's hoping for blue skies tomorrow, bring on the crush-fest   ;D Or should that be spank-fest   :spank:

Virgin face can get a few streaks when its gopping.. but I suspect most of the snow would have melted & gone today (more local view may be more accurate).. Dont know about jess' roof - but its quite exposed there (even for the cliff) so quick drying? I recon with a wind it'll be baltic there tomorrow though..

Only problem with Jess's really is the size of the puddle at the bottom, unless the wind has been blowing from an odd direction in which case it can catch some rain

There was alot of snow, was not really melting cause the sun hardly shone over there whilst i was looking round caley and the cliff.

Vigin trav- looked dry
keel- no snow above and looked like the thing in the best nick.
Sis arete- dry- only a minor mud bath below
DWR- major mud bath below, rock dry.
Never went up to jess's.

I did not even put my boots on but im sure if you were keen yopu could make it work for you.
Maybe best on a more urban crag like baildon or shipley??

The Cliff was a gop fest this morning. Even at 10:30 in the shade things were pretty slimey... The face of DWR felt like it had rivers of lard running down it... Needs a good rain/clean...

Not judging by the radar word. South-eastwards looks a safer bet, maybe Churnet, though I think its moving that way.

Very misty I suspect, certainly was in Leeds and Ilkley, roads staying wet despite it not raining. Also very still. If the cloud lifts, there is no rain and the wind picks up things might be better tomorrow
