This is pretty low. NHS computer system has been hacked and a ransom has been demanded. Fuckers.

The location is somewhere many, many people (including myself and many on here) have gone to - its the biggest gig venue in the NW - so draws people in from all of N.England.. Attacking kids - teenagers and younger - at the spot where parents wait to meet them afterwards will be visceral to many... Lots of bad stuff has happened in the UK over the years (and far worse in other parts of the world) - but I don't remember a reaction quite like the one this morning. Even the radio was playing only music...

Thoughts with all affected :(

When you let your child go off to their first concert, you worry about a lot of things.
Being blown apart by some deranged believer, who thinks "God" told him to do it; should not be one of those things.

Is this information that has been released at this point, or are we just guessing?

Absolutely deplorable act.

For time I've wondered why it isn't mandatory for stadiums to have the sort of security technology that airports have. It seems to be that this - and other recent attacks - could have been entirely preventable if so and I'm enraged at the thought that this has happened. The sort of revenue that these venues make surely should mean that they take appropriate measures to defend against this sort of vile behaviour.

I'm guessing but one reason they probably don't is that it would take forever to get everyone in.

Speaking from personal experience of going to Sheffield Arena every weekend through the winter for ice hockey, they are pretty good (annoyingly so) at checking bags. Annoying for us cos I like to take sarnies in for the kids instead of filling them with shite expensive junk food.

We don't even know at this stage whether the guy was inside and sat through the whole concert, or for example if when the doors opened to left folk leave he could have walked in unchecked from the street, which is quite possible.

He was in the foyer.. so I suspect could just walk in through the big doors at the front just as the concert finished and everyone began to flood out.

Pure prejudice at time of writing, for which I apologise.

However (love those qualified apologies, eh? Bit like I'm not racist ,but...) they do seem to have identified the suspect somewhat quickly, suggesting to me that h was probably "known" to security services. I know the first thing they do is a head count of the "known" after such an event, it can limit the field and aid with identification . Where the perpetrator is unknown, I would have thought id. to be much harder?
This too is speculation and "known" also doesn't equate to religious motivation.

No need to apologize Oldmanmatt, news states ISIS involved.
Some horrendous stories now emerging about the children and young people caught up in this.
My heart and thoughts go out to all of them.

He had ID on him, the time taken to to confirm it was his ID they found.

The most recent arrest was just down the road from me. The wife (doctor) says the hospital is pretty grim today.

Thanks for posting the tweet. There's a message on PG Donor Centre line saying they don't currently need more blood.

So it's been a media scrum at the end of the road today. Probably 100+ journalists there for lunchtime prayers. Where we watched people going in and out to pray being chased down the road by journo's trying to get a scoop.

Spoke to a few - from Germany, Norway and Denmark. The danish pair openly admitted it was all part of the media circus... "last week Paris, this week Manchester - really we feed the problem too"...

The lowlight was a chap for the Lybian community was being interviewed by a couple of people when this fella parked up his van and started giving him a mouthful. What a dick.. but manna to the press..

Hopefully some normality will resume tomorrow.. (the sharp eyed can spot me at the end of the clip)

Just had a look at NYTimes website.
https://www.nytimes.com
Grisly details about Manchester attack.
What the fuck is the world coming to, it's not journalism, it's trash.
Whoever leaked this wants stringing up.

Now watching things unfold in London. Can't look away.
