NB - Note the site, apparently French media aren't familiar with it and reported it as genuine news ;)

Christianity invented by Romans to pacify the poor:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/story-of-jesus-christ-was-fabricated-to-pacify-the-poor-claims-controversial-biblical-scholar-8870879.html

This is a load of shite. The guy is ever so very slightly more credible as a scholar than Dan Brown. How he makes international news as if his spoutings are factual is bewildering. If you want to read a serious, credible work on the origins of christianity by an atheist scholar worth listening to, then I'd refer you to the works of my old lecturer James Crossley, who has been interviewed by the press for his opinion on Atwill.

I wrote something about this on fb. If anyone's interested, I'll look it up.

Brand in the New Statesman (which is why Paxman was interviewing him).

Its long, rambling but very good :)

I wonder if Paxman realised he came out of that looking a complete prat?

Now...

Can we get him in a room with Brand and Minchin, simultainiously?

Better still, Camer(lo)on instead of Paxman.

Much as i hate to link to M%$l articles (and this fucking cunt in particular) having read his victim's dissection of his bullshit here I had to skim the original pile of shite (with gritted teeth) here.

So someone writes a blog helping people to feed their families really cheaply and (because they also support the idea of people paying less for energy) this is what they get. In the words of our hero "you couldn't make it up".

I realise he does it on purpose week in week out but the level of factual innacuracy and nastiness in this one is truly stunning. Of course the scary thing is that a lot of people still believe this rubbish.

EDIT - probably a good time to remid people of this too....

Cunt.
