I haven't heard anything in the news about the commissioning side of things.

My wife is one of the people with commissioning expertise. The reforms propose that she, and everyone like her, are moved to local authorities outside of any direct NHS structure, and that the council have to find the money from their existing, shrinking, seriously under pressure budget to pay for them, even though the work they do will effectively be for the GP consortia. Apparently my wife's boss is really struggling to persuade the council that what they do is important.

From some1 whos dying of cancer ask me why lifes precious and should not be so carelessly risked!!!! What a complete disregard for themselves and for others. For me heroes are people who selflessly risked their lives for others or the people I see in the cancer ward struggling through arduous gruelling radio/ chemotherapy treatments, not these two people so a bit of realism and perspective PLEASE!!!!!

I can understand risking ones life for a cause: becoming an astronaut, firefighter, policeman, or joining the military, etc. But I cannot see why this would interest anyone but the two who did it.

I am sorry, I dont see the point of this silliness. Surely they could be doing something of use to society. Ridiculous! What would have happened if they had got stuck fast? How many people would have had to risk their lives in an attempt to save them?

Apparently used 1400 such workers 4 months, if they'd paid them minimum wage (which is more than JSA) it would have cost them ~£1million, not a huge amount for a company that posts profits in the billions.
