Extraordinary amateur footage of one of the flash floods that hit Queensland yesterday. That's how you empty a car park!!

The weather system that's causing this is so massive that even where I am, well over 1000 miles south of Brisbane, we have had nearly 80mm of rain in the last couple of days with temperatures staying in the mid-high 20s the whole time!! Some parts of Victoria started getting flash floods last night after receiving 90-120mm of rain yesterday and I'll be watching the creek behind my house pretty closely for the next couple of days as we are expecting thunderstorms and extensive areas of rain all the way to the weekend.

Hard to believe that two years ago we were in a massive heatwave that triggered the most lethal bushfires ever seen.

OK, I'm sitting in my office looking out into deep gloom (it's 9AM on a mid-summer morning!) and torrential rain but it is still warm enough to be t-shirt weather!! They've issued a flood watch for the local creek so I may have to go and collect the cats and evacuate them to my parents place for safety later this morning.

I'm hearing that it has been even heavier out around Mt Arapiles and the Grampians with Natimuk expecting heavy flooding today (just heard a Natimuk resident on the radio describing the scene.)
