No, no insider knowledge other than he is sometimes presented as 'ex Chief Economist Shell' when he held a relatively insignificant role as an Economics advisor in the trading division (I think..) but that's public anyway.  He's only where he is because he called Brown Mr Bean and then made a few ridiculous proclamations during the financial crisis that made people feel better about themselves. <Can you tell I'm not a big fan  >

I'm only a fan because I'm a leftie, and I think he's about the most left leaning member of the govt. As such I like to think he's some sort of socialist mole who's secretly trying to stick it up the Torys.

Having heard what he said to the undercover Telegraph reporters thats exactly what he seemed to be doing! 

My money would be on a coalition split happening after the voting system referendum in May.. whatever the result.. I'm not sure whether thats a good or bad thing.. just saying..

I don't have a problem with left leaning economists (Woolf & Kay from the daily pinksheet for example) who hold a position and argue coherently. My problem with Cable is his vanity, flip-flopping, monstrous ego, collie like bandwagon chasing and inflated sense of self importance. The man is a dick and an arrogant one at that.

The BMJ article is...

[In] the first part of a special BMJ series, Brian Deer exposes the bogus data behind claims that launched a worldwide scare over the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine, and reveals how the appearance of a link with autism was manufactured at a London medical school

Basically a very detailed analysis of exactly why it was fraudulent bunkum.


Given the huge amount of media coverage the original paper got, the confusion it caused to parents and the public health problems that ensued (increased rates of diseases) this should have got as much exposure as the original but when it was first exposed as problematic it didn't and neither is this (but obviously won't, at present its only the Torygraph covering it, as its not "sensationalist" enough).

Reading the BMJ article it is very interesting to see the lengths they went to support their claim/view/theory on a link (which was underpinned by a lawsuit that those involved were involved with to sue the vaccine company).  Utter fucking shite research
