Now I'm no big fan of Gordon Brown but what's been going on in the last few days has been a fucking disgrace. Basically a smear campaign with zero evidence in which the "National Bullying Helpline" has been quoted extensively by opposition politicians and journalists alike without anyone actually confirming what it is.

Well it turns out it's this:

http://thebullyinghelpline.blogspot.com/2009/08/why-not-to-ask-for-independent.html

Quote
In other words, if you call the National Bullying Helpline for help, because you believe you're being bullied at work, and you follow their advice, they might tell your employer that you are the bully, call your grievance vexatious, and leave you in a worse position than when you started, with no comeback at all.

David Cameron et al.......

Does this really sound like a trustworthy source!? FFS.

Just your average holiday

"The most expensive package includes a massage, which takes place on a special rug laid out at a place with the view of the Charles Bridge. We light candles and incense sticks, lay down the plush toy on its back and Mr. Hlavka starts the massage," Okamura said.

This woman is a fucking disgrace.

If anyone's interested then the links I posted above show how this whole "charity" is a con created to get work for her HR company.

Absolutely, a less than wholly honest attempt to gain some free pr has, well not just backfired but spectacularly so.  As for the allegations that she's a tory stooge, she could quite equally be a new labour stooge as well, knowing that her 'outing' will lead to a real deflection of the story.

That however shouldn't detract from the core allegation that Brown is a bully and even Ed Balls accepts that Rawnsley's account reflects the 'narrative truth'.

Remember Brown went on the record to say that he'd never allowed briefing against other miniters?

Whats the problem?  The same tactic is employed effectively by hundreds of shops and shopping centres (and radio stations come to that) across the country which play bland/crap/wank chart and RnB shit and its exceptionally effective at keeping me out.

As for the Clockwork Orange link, if I remember correctly (and its been years since I read the book) the choice of music was influenced by the fact that Alex liked classical music in the first place.  So its a poor analogy as they were using something the criminal liked as punishment for his crimes and not trying to use "culture" as a weapon as the article suggests.

Crap write-up too, it states "endure two hours of classical music", and states a reduction of 60%.  Yet the article it cites/links to states one hour of classical music followed by a maths DVD and a half-hour write-up of what they've learnt and that this has reduced trouble by 50% (the misquoted 60% is probably because straight afterwards it states that "upto 60 pupils").

I think the twat who wrote that article should be made to sit and listen to Mozart for a couple of hours whilst writing out lines stating "I must read properly things I am going to write about".

There seems scant evidence that its pruposefully being employed as a tactic to deter yoof's.  There is some evidence from studies that classical music can be relaxing, and it could just be the choice of music that happens to have been selected for bus-shelters and other places.  The fact that the speakers are vandal proof does nothing to support the notion that this is to protect against the agression directed at them by classicaly-enraged yoof's, they'd have to be anyway, as anything and everything is fair game to be vandalised.

I don't agree with the Mosquito alarms though, as they do definitely target a specific demography and are completely indiscriminate.

:agree: The article was really badly written. I cannot really take seroiusly someone who has to 'weaponize' in order to sensationalise.... Shops, supermarkets etc.. all use subtleties like music, colour and design to good effect. Supermarkets - seem clean  - smell of bread when you walk in - but the light and the colour is designed so you wont want to be there for more than 30-40 min. Look good, get in, get your $$ then f*ck off.

Anyway, seeing as I've been a naughty boy today, I'm off to birch myself and stand in a brighly lit unfurnished room facing the corner listening to craig david for an hour.

Somewhat self-fulfilling don't you think?

Anyone carrying a knife will have turned around and walked the long way round!  Is there a concomitant reduction in reported knife crime?
