Stanage Sitstart Gnarl
October 20, 2008, 11:47:03 am
Tried Bentley's... the other day. Gnarly little bugger. Anyone got any tips? Getting rocked up seems easy enough. Even got my right hand turned to push down, but I can't seem to move my trailing leg...

On a related one-move-wonder note, I did a sitter on the boulder immediately left of the green trav. Anyone done this before? Looks a bit rubbish, but it's quite a fun move, at about 7A maybe.

With the sitter, do you mean pull on and slap to top? If so I did this about 10 years ago, but couldn't be bothered to right it up as I didn't think it was that great.

There's a thread on Bentleys from a while back. Getting your right thigh round is the crux. I'm surprised you didn't do it if you got your right hand turned. I didn't do that, but just kept pulling and udging. I've got a vid of me doing it somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it out tonight.

Key is to swap left heel to a toe once established on the pebble and dish. The rest then follows easily, especially with the palm down.

That's the one. It's not a three star gem, but it's there!

That'd be grand, thanks.

Aha, sounds cunning. Shall try.

I had my toe on all the way, but the rest didn't follow easily, so maybe it's the palm down that is key.

What a mission it was finding and uploading this!

I think it would be more suited to the "How Not To Climb" thread:

"

Hope it helps.

Cheers Andy!

What kind of hold is that first left hand on? I don't remember anything there.

A white, flat pebble. It split my tip before I managed to finish it.
