I would strongly recommend the BOSE in-ear jobbies. They're not technically "sound isolating" because they don't fit "into" your ear canal. the Bass response is fantastic as is the BOSE warranty. Sent a pair back due to a fraying wire sleeve (in all honesty user error) and they sent a brand new pair back in a box. you do pay for that kind of service in the first place though (£60 ish?)

I just got some Bose Triport OE. They are brilliant. Great bass. Comfy and crystal clear. Bit pricey but worth it.

got some of these:

I've used a lot of different cans for work over the years and these are amazing for the price, plus they're low impedance so even an ipod can drive them. You'd look a bit of a twit at the wall or out at the crag. Very popular in the states. They do fold though.

Meh.  I wear full headphone all the time: down the shops etc..  Inner ear plugs for running only.  You need to spend $500 to get incredible sound from inner ear phones.  Go big instead, I say.
