Peak Bolt Fund

The place has been crying out for one for a long time now. A lot of really good routes have and continue to become dangerous propositions due to the state of the often ancient insitu gear.

Hopefully the existence and promotion of an active bolt fund and re-bolting project should help to rectify this situation. In so doing not only will we maintain the popular routes we’ve all enjoyed, but help to re-vitalise routes and crags of undeniable quality which have slipped into disuse due to the state of the gear.

The success of this venture depends entirely on the generosity in time and money of the climbing community. As is so often the way, many of those with one to give are sorely short of the other. Hopefully the Peak Bolt Fund can join the dots by giving the time rich but money poor the tools, equipment and technical support needed to carry out some necessary work.

If you have or do enjoy sport climbing in the peak please join the effort to keep the crags in good order, by either donating online via the Paypal button, one of the collection boxes which we hope to locate in local shops/walls, or by sending a cheque made payable to Peak Bolt Fund, addressed to PBF, 10 Wath Road, Nether Edge, Sheffield, S7 1HE

Anyone keen to help carry out some of the re-equipping work please e-mail or PM Bonjoy or Paul B.

Work will commence once we have raised sufficient funds to purchase bolts and re-equipping kit. This shouldn’t take as long as first expected thanks to some more than generous help with kit supply from peak guru extraordinaire Neil Foster. Many thanks Neil!

I will go into greater detail on the structure and function of the bolt fund on a sticky thread in the ‘chuffing’ section of the site. We will be keeping a record of work carried out, and money raised. Please feel free to make suggestions on fund raising ideas and routes requiring attention, although those willing to give of their time to the equipping work will get first priority on the choice of what is to be equipped (within the guidelines of the PBF).
