The best war metal ever, fuck YEAH  :punk: :punk: :punk:

Saw them......gads 18 years ago or something down in London. Went to the gig on Saturday night, ears finally stopped ringing on Wednesday (unlike seeing Merzbow in 2009, ears still haven't stopped ringing since then). Saw them again in 2010 in Leeds, still fucking crushed it, brilliant gig.

I love World Eater, the earlier chugging guitar is legendary. I remember an interview with Jo Bench in which she said Realm Of Chaos was one of the most awkward albums as the guitars/bass were so downtuned it was "like playing spaghetti".

However that's a strange version, I prefer the normal album version:

Edit: A couple of other favourites throughout the ages:

Catchy as fuck  :punk:

Strangely, I prefer the remake

When I was recording metal stuff, I restrung my bass using a low B (B E A D tuning).  That in combination with my 7 string Ibanez got the sound I wanted without string slackness.

Shared a flight to Helsinki with members of Manowar on Thursday.  They're playing here this weekend.  No, I'm not going to go and see them.

little bit annoyed with gigs at the minute.

Amen have cancelled there tour, Alt fest has been cancelled at short notice, I booked tickets to see rise against and then realised I am on holiday.

Can anyone recommend anything coming up over the next couple of weekends to check out? preferably in Sheff or along the m62

I have however booked tickets to see king 810 in manc and Alestorm in Sheff which should be good

Nice one... I won't take a ticket but if you're going then you must see Winterfylleth.  Manc Black Metallers with no corpse paint or tattoos in sight.  Just fantastic transcendental music.

Very nice Andy... On the shoulders of Fahey, Kottke, Basho, Walker & Rose.  Open C tuning for that drone....

I didn't really mean my post to look as provocative as it probably did ... so I'm glad someone liked it. I saw him live for the second time last week: highly recommended, totally mesmeric.

He plays electric too, with drones and circularity much to the fore.

As well as the thrilling Rolo Tomassi which I can't believe no-one has replied to, I have been catching up with some recent death metal, all recommended:

Allegaeon - Elements Of The Infinite
http://youtu.be/SIqt_BT-ahM?t=19s
Another good album of melodic technical sci-fi themed death metal from these guys. Generally well done and pretty catchy, some of the noodly solos annoy me but the general feel is good.

Behemoth - The Satanist

Behemoth's return after Nergal's battle with leukemia. An absolute monster of an album, overwhelmingly loud and dense on first listen but surprisingly varied as well as luxuriously heavy. Epic.

Belphegor - Conjuring The Dead

If Behemoth is a bit too refined for you then this could be a good choice. More blackened death metal, with all the usual blastbeats and ridiculous imagery, but also an astonishingly bass-heavy sound and a good smattering of crushing riffs and occasional melodies.

Misery Index - The Killing Gods

An excellent transformation from mundane deathcore into proper and thoroughly convincing death metal. Aggressive, punchy, and catchy in almost every track.

Also, this is what cute blonde Icelandic chicks are up to these days apparently:

Nice Nordic style blackened death metal from Angist - Circle Of Suffering EP
