An interesting genre is that there GRIND.

I always bought this type of music on LP so I could hear it best, and usually it was with an overly-developed and engorged irony-gland.

For she can be the funniest of things:  in the main I found it desperately difficult to take seriously, and why would you when the vocals are buried (alive) under a ton of rotting WuuURrrGGgGhhhHHHhhHH-ah HhuhhGgGhh!! ?

Fudgetunnel, pour example: truly hilarious.

Of course it's not all a barrel of laughs, Godflesh in particular; an extremely influential band with roots that go much further that the usual Black Sabbath and Deep Purple.

Extreme Noise Terror and Napalm Death were such vibrant acts, ENT - probably the smelliest and most serious hardcore militant vegans on Earth.  Napalm Death were deeply serious about their art.  One time I saw them live:  they would hoik-out some in-yer-face 6 second song then turn respectfully from the audience and tune their instruments for 2 minutes before returning to audio assault!  Just bonkers.

Neurosis are a special band, quite terrifying.  Again, not childish at all.

And BoltThrower, oh I did love their work ditto Carcass who were perhaps my favourite after ENT and The Death.

These days I prefer techno as it's considerably more violent.  But I still like a bit of filth every now & again.  ;D

You're obviously a very angry young man.
Anyway proof that making a lot of noise is no excuse for not looking smart:

I gave up trying to embed it; follow the link. I was just searching for the first track; collision, but the whole show's on there. 34:40's also good. The guitarist took time out from starring opposite Arnie in Terminator 2 to do this show.

Everyone's favourite:

Not thrash, or metal, but I like it, so there.

You're obviously a . . .     . . . young man.

You and I shall be great friends, Serpico.  Perhaps you will marry my sister . . . ?

And the 1st AT THE GATES LP on Earache was stellar!

And my favourite rock band, Zeni Geva (Japan) two guitars, drums, no bass yet oddly have an entire underworld of bottom end.  Around 15 years together - like fine port, they've improved w/age.

Disorganization (live 1995 been trying to see them live since this time, no joy - yet)

Top thread. Will join in a bit later.

Question for the masses. Pantera - Cowboys From Hell / Vulgar Display era. Very very good yes. Now, Primal Concrete Sledge off CFH, is it just me or is this astonishingly heavy and brutal?? I can't believe that in the general metal trend to praise and seek heaviness, AND the popularity of "industrial" metal at that time, that this gem could get overlooked. Never really heard much like it...

The inimitable, hugely influencial Napalm Death - Scum

The drummer, as cognoscenti will know is MJ Harris (now Scorn, Lull and others)

Scorn - Fumble

Have to go with the genre defining epitomy of Thrash....

Absolutely fucking brilliant.  Ear bleeding stuff, Dave Lombardo is(/was?) an amazing drummer, shame he quit whilst touring the album.

Whilst on the topic of Slayer, I've a leather jacket that is adorned with a hand-painted design of Slayer's Divine Intervention album cover that I'm sticking on fleabay today if anyone wants to take it off my hands for a reasonable amount.  Expertly modeled by my wife this morning....

I particularly like this sort of music where the vocals are clearly enunciated, Slayer are great for that.
