Wahay, congratulations! Sounds like you got yourself a convoy! I remember having a 10-year-old's crush on Ali McGraw when I saw this.

Thanks Mark :)

It's a tough test - way harder than the car test, and harder than the C (class 2) test just because of the sheer size of the trailer and the reversing.

Little sis served in Kosovo as an articulated fuel tanker (petrol) driveress w/Logistics.  An enormous bomb on wheels.

Story goes she lost the back-end in a ditch and had to shove the truck in too to avoid rolling it and drove up the other bank.  She took it into the field on the other side - avoiding bizarre cairns as she went (wondering what they were but grateful the rig was upright).  She exited the cairned field to be met by a flabbergasted Challenger commander who has seen the episode and said she just made him lose fifty quid.  She asked why?  You've just driven through a partially cleared minefield, was the reply.  They'd taken bets to see if she'd be toast.

She also crashed her landy into an ambulance in the Falklands - and emerged unscathed; both vehicles write-offs.  She's blind as a bat.  Like me.

I wouldn't want to drive a fuel tanker any where near a war zone - respect to her!

1.  Buckstone Dyno- never got around to trying it
2.  Mothership Reconnection (Thorn)-  looked once in adverse conditions
3.  Picnic Sarcastic-  Got close on a brief session years ago
4.  West Side Story
5.  Jerry's Arete (Bridestones)
6.  Sloping Beauty (Earl)
9.  Clash of the Titans (St Bees)-  Another venue I've never been to, sorry
10.  Big Marine (Craig Y Longridge)-  Psyched to get back there, but looks even more scary due to groundwork

How's everyone getting on?
We're over half way through 2008.  I've ticked off 2 of my 10, I'm claiming it's been too hot for the rest
So much to do, too little time.

1. Get better at body boarding and stop nearly drowning.
2. Get stronger on gastons (I suck)
3. Complete all half done projects.
4. Actually stick to a hangboard routine.
5 Break the V10 bracket.

Well I marginally imrpoved on one although I still suck with flippers on.

All the above climbing related aims went out the window with the shoulder op. Now I my only aim is to get back on the rock and regain full strength.

1 Not get injured - apart from minor fucked back nothing major so far
2 Make better use of flexitime to surf and use wall at lunchtime - have done, although summer has been awful. New longboard is fun though.
3 Following good use of surfing flexitime, improve enough to do Scottish NW Coast and Hebrides justice - Not got there yet!
4 Following that, get some good surfing done in Oz in Autumn - plan scrapped flights too expensive
5 Get some winter routes and ski touring done - loads of ski touring, double usual quota of winter roues and did 2
6 Make an effort to get down to gritstone more often - only once this year!
7 get to Font - did, good trip in spite of rain
8 Have a good snowboarding trip to somewhere with decent powder - Keystone - big tick there!
9 Have a considerably more productive year for trad and boudlering in Scotland - spring was excellent, strugglinmg with crap summer
10 Get more mountain biking done at 7 Stanes etc (might even upgrade bike) - not done much at all, syill thinking about new bike

1) Sell house
2) Buy a new house
3) Retire
4) Get a full nights sleep
5) Go climbing more than this year

If I get one of these ticked I'll be a happy man.
1 - Have you seen the state of the property market.
2 - I refer you to aim 1.
3 - Plan scuppered by developing a stay-at-home-mom wife.
4 - Yes, yes, fucking yes. There was a time when I never thoughjt it would happen.
5 - Incredibly I managed this also.

1. Get stronger fitter discover technique and try and be more static.
2. Get a van.
3. Climb loads all over the country (bouldering and trad).
4. Go to Font.
5. Go climbing with mates more.
6. Gorilla\Extended Warfare.
7. Get back onto grit trad at a grade above VS and stop being scared witless about it all (just scared will do).
8. Avalanche Wall (Curbar) without falling off or slumping onto gear.
9. Climb on Slate.
10. Climb abroad somewhere other than Font.

1. Might have discovered technique and feeling relatively strong at the minute.
2. Another month and the van becomes a possibility.
3. Ireland, Cornwall and peak lime so far this year and off to North Wales tomorrow - plenty of trips arranged elsewhere.
4. Hopefully later this year.
5. Tick - will be a double tick if\when I can get the Fiend out.
6. Worked the opening moves but haven't been back since - autumn\winter project.
7. Lyons Corner House done yesterday - was a bit "Ooooh fuck!!" as I didn't place the obvious (in retrospect) big fat runner at the crux but not too bad.
8. Still to be done.
9. See 3
10. Kalymnos hopefully in October

Going well all in all.

1 - Not get permanently exhausted through working too hard - Jan/Feb was bad but the rest of the year has been OK so far and I've been doing lots of running, biking etc
2 - Be fit and strong enough to really make the most of the Banyaks boat trip in May - Ticked... felt great and surfed every day
3 - Finally climb a Font 7b problem (I've made it to 7a+ each year) - Just getting started on the climbing front and psyched though so hopefully this will come later this year
4 - Do lots of routes in the Summer - particularly away from the Peak - Just getting started weather permitting.
5 - Drink less and eat healthier - Done well on this one having cut down on the booze massively
6 - Get lots of sleep - Less travel at work and going to bed earlier really helps
7 - Acquire less stuff - Aside from the hardtail and the new puppy I can't think of anything I've acquired this yearand I got rid of loads of crap in the Spring

Going pretty well overall....

1. Climb remaining E2-4 routes in Lleyn section of North Wales Rock before spring.
no - ran out of time/weather/opportunity
2. Climb abroad on either Scandinavian granite or German/Czech sandstone.
no - still got time yet
3. Go on whatever bouldering / sport trips abroad are available.
a bit - font x 2, costa blanca weekend - but stopped due to injury
4. Hang out with my mates more and do more climbing with them.
no - injured, mates mostly climb local / sport / bouldering, can't do that
5. Climb a few remaining inspirations at Nesscliffe, Baggy, a few esoteric odds and sods, and on grit.
 no - injury etc etc

Errr umm. That's it?

Have decided to remix an alternative / additional top 10 from most inspiring goals other people have mentioned:

Quote
1. be absolutely flamboyant
kinda - putting more effort into beanie style and t-shirt colours, and got some good tunes busting out of the ride

Quote
2. remain SYKED
kinda - but has to be put on hold due to injury

Quote
3. get AWESOME
no - injured

Quote
1. 4. stop fucking about.
no

Quote
5. work harder at everything
no

Quote
6) Learn Spanish
have increased vocab from about 5 words to about 10 and sometimes not afraid to use them

Quote
7 - Acquire less stuff.
ummm yeah, with the exception of dnb cds

Quote
7. 8. hope to fuck I enjoy my climbing as much as I am at the moment for ever
yes, when it actually happens, love it as much as ever

Quote
9 Have a considerably more productive year for trad and boudlering in Scotland
yes yes fucking yes, two full weeks in May

Quote
10. (from another thread) Go to the next Detatched Fiend .
no - too lazy for clubbing

  :-\

Hope that's adequately informative

No, 4 more weeks of freedom.  However, the kids haven't been well recently and the wife is back at work so it's going to limit free days.  Plus the weather has been duff for a week or 2.

Is there ever time to do all the climbing you want to?

1 to heal my finger

2 spend more time being humbled in the cave of justice

3 to visit a new climbing area in the uk every month

4 to win the heart of greg chapman

5 to make love to dave westlake

6 to mess up chris chapmans hair

7 climb final curtain

8climb paroxysm/pure paroxysm

9 handy andy's at earl after it stole the end of my finger

10 keep in touch with people more

i reckon at least 2 out of those 10 might be achievable

1 i think this is done now mostly just scar tissue left over

2 not been back can't stand the steepness and another ruthless bumming from doylo

3 so far yes (purely by chance i might add)

4 it was always mine anyway

:shag: all over it

6 his hair gel just provides too strong a hold

7 very close overlapping halves should have done it a couple of weeks ago but i'm shit so.....

8 no chance can do all the moves but linking to the top and bottom halfs through the undercut is just too hard atm

9 haven't been back

10 achieved this mainly through the magic of facebook
