I simply thought the use of that term 'regrettable' - nothing more.

My only regret is not using Have it Yahweh earlier in the thread

I find getting to 12k fairly OK.  After that each 1rpm is a struggle.  Not that I do it very often.

Got my Powerball super quick and I have to say its class!
I got a real burn after maintaining 8,000rpm for a while and almost feels pumpy!!

Anyone got any 'specific' exercises that they do with to improve specific areas?? Any ideas welcome!

Cheers,
Mark

I'll be upgrading soon enough (I've worn one out:  call me Popeye) to a powerball with a counter, and I'm ready to meet both Unc' and GCW in a powerball face-off.

Till postie makes me happy, have some of this.

The gauntlet is down.  PowerBalls at 12 paces.

Say your prayers now GCW.    Your 12356 won't get you far!  I've no counter so this could be bull but I think I've whipped 12K just on the sound mine makes (something like:  "Please Sir!  I can't take any more!  Stop!  Stop!).

Maybe you shouldn't get one with a counter, you may be disappointed.  And I hate to see a grown man cry   :'(

Looks like you need to be well into the 14,000 range gefore you get in the top 100.  Check out Akis' videos- one hand both hands etc etc.  Beast!!

i'm sure scouse told me he had some freakish top score on these things that most people he told woulnd't believe, so hopefully he'll see this thread.

on the flipside, he's been injured on and off ever since then so i'm not convinced of the training benefits!

Grip strength, in the main.  The big numbers have to come down to how hard it's being gripped (how much energy is being lost due to poor contact between the hand and the device) as opposed to just revolutions.

My power endurance has improved greatly.  Pinching (especially on plastic) also much improved.  Ditto hanging-in on shallow slopes.

Check out (this film cracks me up!).  I doubt he'll get up mandala anytime soon, but his grip is clearly ferocious.

Yeah, OK I edited it but you posted at the same time.
He looks like he's gonna bust a vessel.  Wouldn't like to bump into him in a dark alley- one squeeze your guts would spray over the walls after erupting from both ends, like a tube of toothpaste trodden on by an elephant.

Only 2 climbers in that top 100:  positions 17 & 33.

They need to make a slightly smaller powerball.  For myself and Jeremy Beadle who are of the smaller-handed disposition.  It has to be easier to crush if you've spades.

Each to their own training methods GCW.  Whatever works for you, Pal!

Most people struggle with this method, Houdini, as they tend to get more strength in their dominant hand.
I would recommend using the PowerBall in the other hand at the same time, thus training each arm equally.

It's been years, and i really cannot remember the numbers. I do remember being impressed with myself and noone else believing me so it must've been biggish numbers. I'll try and find mine tonight.

...struggle...

(Reaches for dictionary...)

Dave Noden is expert in this position.  Über-draining.  Yup, feels good with the LH too. Might start incorporating it into a shithead forfeit.  When you're drunk, 3 minutes of hard balling would equal, say, 15 fingertip pull ups or 30 press ups.

Get the cheapest WITH lcd readout. The ones with no LCD are pointless. No way of measuring improvement. No competitive element.  ;)

update: currently supplied with free gimp pouch.  :great:

toby you're a mind reader - i've just ordered one of them today from that very site. went for the free stressball cos it sounds like the gimp pouches have dodgy zips, and we all know how important a sturdy YKK is.

I thought about going for the 350 Hz metal baddass version "Akis struggles to reach 12K".  But @ 100€ you have to be shitting me.

The price of the 250Hz/standard model on that site is fairly competetive.

Anyone fancy a UKB Powerball League?

Yes.

Hah ha!  You're all gonna get fucked up!

The training angle:  I've read-up a little more.  Rotate (in RH) anti-clockwise and you put muscle on the top of the forearm, clockwise and it goes to the underside of the forearm.  Bigger forearms can't be a bad thing now, can it?  Worked for Popeye, like.

If you get the technique right, you don't need a string to get it started by the way (which is good as I lost mine). Just give the ball a start by giving it a stroke over a carpeted floor.

You said this earlier Chris.

If you get the technique right, you need neither the string or a floor roll (a desk works too):  Akis can start  a powerball in both hands by a flick of the wrist (not the thumb).  That's really hard.
