I have just been informed that, at 7.30 this morning, Smitton has finally made it across and up the training concept which spat off Ben Moon in his pomp. For those who don't know it, it goes by the name of Staminaband/Pump Up The Power.

I see on 8a.nu he has taken the route grade rather than the quite frankly gargantuan bouldering grade of V14. Bloody sport climbers.

Nice one Paul. What next for the strongest fingers to have ever come out of Clit Hero?

Waddage! bit of an unsung hero is smitton. Nige tell the tale of his arrival (as in Nige's) at the-place-whats-name-we-doth-not-speaketh and find Smitton atop the hulk - he had flashed it. Fingers of steel - and he drinks beer. Double waddage.

You've confused me Nibs. I thought the Last Section of One Summer was Ben trying his Kilnsey project, and peeling off. Then come the credits with "Deliverance Font 8a, Brit 7b" or similar.

An amazing effort by Paul, he was down there religiously every other day or so for weeks, good dedication! Boy Band/Stamina Band next, although he's probably sick of the sight of the place by now.

I've no doubt that Ben could have done this having seen how strong he looked on the PUTP section in the video. I think one reasons that he never did it was that it was viewed simply as a training challenge back then, not as an end in its self. I think if he thought he would have got a V14 tick for a couple more sessions on it he would have done so.

Nice one Smitton! This is a monstrous effort. To put this in perspective, Smitton only did Powerband 6 weeks ago, PUTP about a month ago (3rd go, ground up, in the rain, blindfold, etc.), and Staminaband about 3 weeks ago. As Ru says he's been down there every other day since then trying it which is some dedication. I'm fairly sure that yesterdays ascent came from a Clitheroe start too, which means he must have got up at some God awful hour of the morning!

And yes he does drink beer and lots of it, which equals double waddage

yes i dread to think what boots he climbed this in, probably his One Sports that he been wearing since he was 14 when he was a sponsored hero.

yes greg, but your project was to get up at 4.45. how does this compare with paul's achievement? he's shy so we'll prob never see him again. for those interested parties, he blew off the match at wknd. yesterday he matched by going under. just shows people don't always need to readjust on a hold
