I've been getting periodic influxes (74 today) of 'returned mail/ delivery failed messages' which have reputedly come from made up senders @my domain name.
I've been informed this doesn't mean I've been hacked, but that someone is spoofing my address.
Is this right? What can I do about it?
Assuming more messages make it than don't, a lot of folk are getting crap purportedly from me. Any help welcome, cheers y'all.

Not much you can do really - just means somebody has put your email address as the return address. Very annoying - i get shit loads of them.

Can't I get my domain host to block messages that aren't to a registered address?
Presumably that's how they originate at the other end?

I don't think there's any easy solution to this problem at the moment. Hope I'm wrong though.

You could get your hosts to block messages that are not to an exactly specified address.

eg, johnny@brown.co.uk would be allowed but asdfasdf@brown.co.uk wouldn't be. That would cut the amount of crap down but wouldn't stop somebody still using johnny@brown.co.uk as a spoofed return address.

11 years later and same problem - 3000 bounces to the work email this morning. Surely we moved on? All the googling I've done suggests not?
