Along similar lines I am something like the second cousin ten times removed from Dr Livingstone, I presume. He "found"  the source of the Nile and was the first westerner to come across Victoria falls.

OK Fatdoc started the Jarvis thing so I can come out now. As lots of people know I started Pulp at school with Jarv
I've met lots of musicians through the years going to gigs/parties and the like. The only one I've gone properly WOW at was meeting Scott Walker at Jarv's 50th.
There was a mention of Roisin Murphy. I remember at Jarv's wedding sitting on the grass with her while she was wearing a short skirt with no care to be "modest" It was extremely hard to keep eye contact. She's really nice -very friendly.
I've worked with a few TV people like Chris Tarrant (clever, potty mouthed and funny as fuck describing contestants who were maybe "less able" than others on WWTBAM) Sue Barker, Noel Edmonds (rolled up his sleeves and moved furniture, helping us to clear the set), Anne Robinson. The people behind The Cube inluding The Body.
I've had dinner with Matthew Stevens the snooker player

Mrs D has much better claims as she's related to Robert Louis Stevenson and illegitmately to Charles the first.

so, you started Pulp with that tall bloke, went to uni with Shark and Seb, married into royalty, maintained royal links and finally got yourself onto a Lagerstarfish Studios video. What's left? Ninja Warrior winner?

Don't get me started on him...

But that's quite common for Matelots as he was definitely part of any Ships company he joined.

Ditto - I've met dozens of people in the music biz since I was a teenager.  All of the Beatles bar John Lennon; most of the major rock bands; hip-hop artists; punk/hardcore/indie; electronica; jazz. BUT the only person I've been completely OMFG  :o over was Scott Walker in our local boozer near here.  Quietly supping a pint in his trademark cap - I just nudged my girlfriend and whispered in her ear "That's Scott Walker..... Scott fucking Walker.....".

Brief conversation with Jarvis Cocker in the old greasy cafe that was in Sheffield train station... nice bloke

I am the great great great great Grandson of Henry Cort. The inventor of,  and poorly patented,  puddling of iron purification process. Big business was not his forte, he lost it all. Thus, I am not the CEO of an international steel fabrication business.

arse.

Unless he was Chinese that might not look quite so bad nowadays.

Not a claim of fame of my own, but I was impressed when someone who just looked like a messy drunk in my Dad's local was playing the raconteur and dropping a few names.  Someone else who didn't know better, challenged the toper - casting doubt on his connections.  Drunk chap looks up at the telly, which was showing Channel4 racing, gets out his mobile, dials, and Tony McCoy picks-up live on screen and has a chat.  PWNED as I believe the youth of today would say.

Ends up my Dad's friend was a golf caddy on the European tour - so knew lots of golf loving footballers, jockeys etc.  Funny lifestyle - after extended absences he'd rock up randomly at a one of Selby's dingier pubs (which is pretty dingy), clutching some fish & chips and a half-drained bottle of wine, catch up on the local gossip, and then blearily mutter about a flight to Dubai / South-East Asia and disappear for another few weeks.

Rolf's grandad was a portrait painter in south Wales. My uncle has portraits of my family painted by him more than a century ago.

Mark Williams from the Fast Show was a local at the pub round the corner from my brother's flat when he was at Uni in Brighton. He was usually very (very) drunk, and we'd sometimes try and get him to do bits from the series and buy us pints.

I went to school with the son of Leicester City star defender (and red card record holder) Steve Walsh, and more recently Jamie Vardy has moved in up road from my Dad. So with such strong ties, I'm supporting Leicester this season

In 1996 I enjoyed a night out with Lou from Neighbours, and in 1998 Bez crossed a pub to tell me I should be in a band. Not much since then sadly.

A band? I've always had you as more of a solo artist, like James Taylor.

I think I'd have needed a band for the first couple of albums. Then solo obvs.
