Isn't it James himself? If you watch the video in Vimeo, rather than embedded here, there is a caption that sets the scene.

From young Turnbuckle on Vimeo;

"Some days you head to the crag with little expectation for the day. This day was one of those after a big day out the day before involving a lot of climbing and walking having climbed at Rhythm, Crookrise and Faires Chest I headed to the crag not feeling the freshest and warming up my skin was feeling sore further lowering the expectations of the day but this was just going to be a good social day out with mates. After warming up on the usaual circuit of classics Mina, Dom, Luke and Tom were getting on Zoo York so with a lot pads and psyche there was no excuse not to try as I always have done over the past couple of years with the asperation of one day climbing it. To my suprise even though it was the first time I'd tried it this season it felt the best it ever has and I quickly did and linked moves I'd always struggled with, after a few goes it seemed most logical to start having goes from the ground. It was one of the rare occasions I didn't have a camera with me, thankfully Dave had just got close on Bens Groove Sit so set his up in preparation for another attempt and even more luckily Mina had just pressed record. I'd imagine you can guess what happened next..."

Just come back form an awesome trip to Vatervik in Sweden. What an amazing place.

Managed to do the Hourglass, which is arguably one of the best boulders at the grade in the world. Check out a little video I made.

I liked that; although, I am slightly confused.  It was like being tipsy in the company of people all enjoying a private joke you are not party to.  Laughing along, as although you don't fully understand the matter, you still find the mood and antics utterly hilarious, and are reassured it's not at your expense.

To be honest I was there and I couldn't tell you about any in joke, it's all in the great/twisted (cross out where necessary) mind of Doylo. Having said that we did have a lot of fun and did some rock climbs!

I thought it was great, though I guess it assumed a certain familiarity with JR and his oeuvre.

This is all ignoring the important question, how dry was the main cliff?

More epic punteration masquerading as public service under-used crag promotion:

Featuring:
A sitting on top ending AND a lying at the bottom start.
Drizzle.
Slimpers.
Banging tunes.
And....!
Some of the worst mantle / top-out technique known to mankind  ::).

Nice. If you think your mantle technique is bad you should have seen me get up wipe that smile. You are positively balletic.

Its a nice little spot isn't it. My go to venue when i just fancy a potter.

It is nice indeed. Funnily enough I was totally unmotivated when I arrived, I was trying Hard Times and it was all scrittly as well as a shockingly bad sandbag (especially given other things of that grade here are overgraded), and I was almost on the verge of walking back out and going to Eden when I started playing on Too Hard For Blakey and that got me really motivated, it's such an amusingly minimal problem boiling down to how secure the left hand feels. And then it was all good. I definitely like the vibe and the crag aesthetics :)

I nearly came up with a half decent way of doing Wipe That Smile but I got confused by the choice of rubbish slopers, high footholds, directions to face and possible limbs so decided to do it with the back of my left arm. Obviously.

Scrittle is a perenial problem up here everywhere you go, as i am sure you know. Either through too much traffic or not enough.Rock quality is really good at the stell though so it can be easily brushed off.

Grades as everywhere are all over the place. Sadly over grading is even creeping into the county a place where there were few giveaways not that long ago. I think the old boys still putting up the problems all have rose tinted specs; and when i say old i mean it, i am still a youngster at 50.

Have you checked out Hepburn south or the new simonside stuff yet?

Not yet, I may do, not sure. Garleigh is maybe next on my list, plus trying to rally some friends to get on the higher stuff at High Crag / Shitlington / etc.

Stell grades seem particularly abstract to me ;) Too many soft-touches there for sure but then there's the odd horror.
