No worries, I am probably a bit sensitive because I've put a lot of effort into developing/documenting some of these crags. The idea that people are writing them off as lowball rubbish disappointed me, especially as it's far from the truth. My fault for filming too many lowballs!

Ok, I've put this in here as a challenge to the bum-shuffling comments - originally a trad route, but more suited to being climbed above pads.

Excellent Lancashire highballing.

Nice tune at the end that. Bet he wishes he was doing it as a trad route for the top-out!

I don't think routes become boulder problems just because people decide to use mats...

Depends on the route. I think these do. That's the highest problem on this wall, and we've dropped off from near the top with no issues.

I didn't say it was a boulder problem, the route is definitely a route or has the feel of a route, but this particular wall lends itself to being climbed above pads rather than being led. There's very little gear anyway on Hell's Bells, and it's slightly overhanging, making a drop onto pads scary but safe even from the top.

Solo / boulder / highball, I guess there's no finite boundaries...

Thats brilliant, Rouhling does brad pit and the joker and his spotter dabs him on both ascents.

In fact in general there's some pretty epic close spotting going on. My favourite being 32:30-33:00. Never seen owt like it.

That Randy Leavitt section is mint. Cheating rubber gloves, banging trance, placing gear every 6 inches, telling the whooping supporters to shut up. Classic.

Good farm action. I was a bit worried about the dog getting squashed at one point though... Looks like a good problem!

go climbing on your own wearing clothes that mean no one can see you

it's the new "most fun"

the idea originated when I realised how cool people thought it was to not wear CAC t-shirts after making a donation

Why was he bouldering/soloing in a harness?  To rap back down?  Why not just walk around? Mental?

Nice looking line.  Too scary for me...

Also worth asking why the left boot goes on before the right, the first foot hold must always be touched and of course 3 hail G's. Bat shit crazy.

I was having this conversation the other day with Will. I agree with you, however would you agree that some routes do get much more attention from boulderers than routers because they're more accessible due to pads?  Psycho at Caley, successor state at Brimham, Angel's share/jump on a beetle at Black rocks etc..

Successor State felt like a highball to me and we only had a few pads, I haven't done Psycho because I'm a wuss and it's definitely a route that people make safer with mats. It's obviously a very fuzzy boundary, but the people I know who have done more stuff like Psycho, Beetle, etc are grit climbers who were most active in the 90's.

Ouch.

Trying to categorise bits of rock is a fool's game. The style you climb it in dictates how it will feel. For me, all these are more logically approached as highballs.
