Normally sitting squarely in the Bonjoy camp of 'avoiding London like the plague'
Don't go there: Five places to avoid
1. London
I find myself having to fight the other corner for a bit.
Checked out '
The Sultans Elephant' street theatre event on Saturday. Unbelievable, awesome, breathtaking, fantastic, magical... are a few words I don't normally throw about lightly, but don't hesitate to load upon this amazing show. A 42tonne, 12m high mechanical elephant that was realistic to the last degree, carrying a 7m tall young girl, through the west end. Check out some of the photos, I'll post some footage once it's edited.
And although the main protagonists were the French theatre company Royal De Luxe, a big shout out to all the London authorities who we all normally love to hate (me included) who had the balls to put this on.
One of the most surreal elements of the whole affair was all roads from Traf Square up to Pic Circus and beyond were closed to traffic, leading to the most relaxing London atmosphere ever. The difference was stunning. There wasn't a heavy police presence, and the barriers were refreshingly absent, we could get to touching distance even when it was moving.
