I think a few of those were taken by his wife, but he has been photographed variously by Ray Woodo, Dave Simmo, Greg Chappo and Mark Glaisto to name but a few.

Didnt you interview him once for a mag pontantino? Whats the fella like, seems like quite a shy chap.... ive never met anyone who's ever met him let alone climbed with him. He may be shy but he's a beast!

Found a few more on the old cragx interview: http://www.cragx.com/articles/issue13/gaskins/index.htm

I've stuck them in the original post. Even some grit in there. Blimey, how many 8bs and 8b+s has he done?

Nice one, Cloning Tech seems to have been up-graded to 8b. I'll take that.  ...

And Aeons has been down graded from 8b to to 7c+!! Did you down grade it r-man?

I did a profile of John for OTE a few years back. I met him up at his home in the South Lakes, then went out to a few crags, then subsequently met up with him in North Wales at the crag.

Basically John is just a really genuine and affable bloke. He looks so intense in his climbing photos, but in conversation he is dead relaxed and always laughing.

Watching him on Walk Away was pretty disturbing though!

Impressive
The man does seem to have a liking for the low stuff thuogh, in none of the pictures his feet are more than a meter of the ground. :)

Shame it's so small, but:

Violent New Breed, 9a+

Quote
John Gaskins completed Violent New Breed (9a+, or 5.15a) at the G-Spot, in Gigleswick, England. Gaskins bolted the route in 1993 and worked on it for the following two summers; in 1995, he spent roughly 50 days traying to master it. 1996 looked to be the year of the redpoint, until Gaskins discovered that one of the holds, a subtly glued-back-on crimp, had been knocked off, with the words "Tut tut" chalked onto the crag, and lost interest. In 2000, he returned, and bested the move without the edge. In 2004, Gaskins redpointed the bouldery 20-foot line.

Writes Gaskins: "it is comfortably harder than Hubble." Gaskins made the third ascent of Hubble, the world´s first 5.14c, at Raven Tor, England, in 1993.

Violent New Breed, 9a+

I remember seeing this pic inside the front cover of either Rock and Ice, or Climbing. Does anybody know which issue??? I'd get a back issue, 'cause the photo is sick but just can find which one...

Thanks!
