Also on the DVD is a 6 minute film i made about Rich Simpsons repeat of the hardest problem in the Schoolroom, Sheffield, Perky Pinky.

If anyone wants a copy i should stress a couple of things: this is an  amateur DVD. It was filmed with shit cameras, by shit cameraman and thrown together by me. It should provide some inspiration(and beta) for someone planning a trip over there though. Also the film also contains some really immature stuff which some people might not appreciate.  The language is really really appalling so if your easily offended don't bother. ten big ones just to cover costs. Anyone who wants a copy email me: crimpmaster28@hotmail.com

#14 awesome dvd
June 07, 2005, 03:27:09 pm
ive seen it and would recommend it to any budding world boulderer,
where it really stands out from the rest is that there are no ego's involved, just people climbing for the fun of it,
there are so many funny moments too, it really breaks up the film and gives it a good tempo,
~(and stops the viewer getting board of 45 mins of one hard problem after another done with little effort....  these guys are actually trying hard, which allows one to relate better to the climbing )
chris' ability to capture the fun of climbing trips, in my opinion is unriveled in the climbing genre, along with the underground europe dvd this one will be a classic,
my only critism would be the presentation, but i think he has sorted the dvd cover out now,

oh yeh, and the rich simpson special feature is just mind blowing , better than that malcolm smith thing by far!

Picked mine up from the very charming Doylio Enterprises man at their corporate headquarters last night. I'm at work but I have a DVD player in my laptop, so will be able to report on my findings later.

Got mine and watched half last night. Great stuff so far, very funny, well paced, good choice of sounds. How many one armers from the beast Simpson!? Nice one Chris, top effort.

I just came back up from the basement (the only place such filth can be watched uninterrupted in this joint) having only watched half - it puts my paltry effort to shame (advert coming up). The Simpson section at the end is just genius, the editing is tight, the shots are all good.

So far (just arrived in Buttermilks) the actual climbing bit is really good too. Its really well edited, very funny and looks decidedly polished. Worth the cash.

On to lesser things - you can buy an abridged version of my Crechironicho 2005 vid. Its only 30 minutes long, features profuse swearing, special guest appearances from Gaz, sexual profanity, log cutting and some hardish problems. Yours for only £2. Yes, £2. This is because the editing is so poor and the footage is not great or filmed well or owt. You gets what you pays for - Doylio - smooth, well produced footage, Dobbung - cobbled together first stab at producing a film. If you want it send me a mail benmorton@hbosplc.com

just watched my copy of 'gimps' and was really impressed: top quality stuff, not the amateur mess modestly promised.  I personally thought the footage was nearly all good quality (generally better than my Hard Grit DVD.. there's progress for you) with absolutely shedloads of class problems shown to full effect (with a proper sense of how hard they are - frustration, nervy top-outs, grunting mantels-of-death etc.).

What's especially nice though is how it all flows .  The humour and drama (arrest, stuck cars, broken cars etc) between the cranking make it feel like a proper story, as opposed to a "bitty" series of crag vids.  Better say than Rampage in that respect - with the bonus of not really wanting to slap the protagonists.  Top stuff - best tenner I've spent in ages, worth it just to be reminded how fucking funny someone dressed as an alien, running around screaming, can be (and that creepy drive across the Utah lake bed thing could be extended into a Blair Witch stylee horror film in it own right).
